Description
Trying to make it under the Analogapalooza deadline, I had to really hunt to find these old recordings. This one has a cool drum solo half way through. Go Mike! I wrote this song after reading Ayn Rand, which you may have guessed. Recorded in 1999 in my dad's (Tobin Mueller) basement.
The picture is a band promo. That's my high school yearbook photo in the upper left.
Our band website posted this haiku:
who could we all be
we new york city crack team
come eat and smell us
twon: bass and vocals
dan knudsen: guitars
mike sirola: drums

Lyrics
fountainhead
(music:mueller/sirola, lyrics:mueller)
i no longer feel the
eyes upon me
for now i do this for myself
no more will guilt surround me
to myself i want TO BE A GOD
oh, i will not compromise
oh, i will live let live
the only self-respect i will
receive
will me the self-respect i
give
and now the ego is my fountainhead
and integrity my law
the only beat that i will march to
is that which echoes from my soul
i want the power over myself
you can have power over you
selfistly we will live our own creation
selflessly there will not be me or you
only those with the power
and i want the only power over me

I love the Jon Anderson "dit dit dits" - great memories. (I'm glad you didn't write any songs after reading Atlas Shrugged.) Yes, cool drum solo. I wonder where Mike ended up...
