Description
Recorded in 1999 in my dad's basement, this is my high school band New York City Crack Team. The photo is from my teen years promo file, pretty funny.
Dropping The Cross was written with my best friend, Dan Knudsen, who joined the army after 9/11. He's in Iraq.

Lyrics
dropping the cross
(music:mueller/knudsen, lyrics:mueller)
the light
on heavy places
that emptiness
that crowds us
and i am nailed
to this good tree
this cross that wears me down
god i am not all used up
god this is not the end
god this cross you've given me
will not make me dead
where do i take it now
whether broken and bent
i cannot drop what has become my soul
i've got this feeling
my time is turning now, oh yeah
time to believe it
what i have done has become me
how can you say this prayer
and not go insane
how can you pay the saint
when he lies in vain
how can you drop your cross
and not lose your name
what happens to you when you
abandon all your pain
how can you make your way
believing in shame
what does it give you
but regret and blame
how can you say this prayer
and not go insane
how can you drop your cross
and still have a name
and i feel like i want to
drop this cross again
and i feel like i want to
make my own again
and i feel

Great photo. I dig the funky section when you sing harmonies in a call and response style. And I got a kick out of the "Whole Lotta Love" special effects. All that distortion, remember the sawdust that used to fall from the ceiling?
I hope Dan can listen to this. Make sure to email him the link...
