Description:
I hadn't done any music in many years until a good friend of mine listened to some tapes I had done as a teenager and convinced me to pick it up again. I then got a K2000 until GB came out. Nowadays I sit down and start playing whenever I feel like I'm in a space worth expressing musically. This is one of those sessions.
Many thanks to Priyadarshan - without his encouragement and enthusiasm this post would be just another one of my countless .aif file sitting on my hard drive:)

This piece is beautiful and perfect.
Your friend needs to be thanked, big time, for encouraging you. The world would be a worse place without pieces of music such as this.
Superb.
Take care.
Paul.

from your earlier posts, but the same strong build, professional sound quality, and... at least as beautiful as the others! Well done, and keep posting these gems!
Thank you!

am i dissapointed on taking the time to click thru on one of your tracks. In fact you inspire me to play! to think differently. An excellent comp. Skillfull and passionate. Very cool.
Parichayaka
Given the quality of your music I'd say anything that inspires you to play must be a good thing. Good karma I get!
drakonis
nice slow build, intriguing motive, elegant use of very occasional effects, like the dissonant high-pitched "zzzing..." sound just prior to the final triangle hit. So, there's a bit of tension here, not what I would consider a sanctuary, unless you are portraying some of the anxiety that one needs a sanctuary *from* :-) I actually like the tension in this piece, but it was not what I was expecting, given the title.

What you call "tension", I prefer to think of as "intensity" and while I'm sure you're right about the use of the word "sanctuary" to me it's more an emotional or spiritual space created by inner effort rather than a tacit outer structure offering relief. Similar to the concept of inner poise in outer dynamism which could easily sound like two contrasting qualities but can be so much more fruitful combined. Not sure I'm making any sense here - guess I'll stick with just making music:-) Thanks for your interesting thoughts though.

I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. It was Breath-takingly serene and gorgeous for me! Thank you for sharing this! Wonderful job!

I really enjoyed listening to this, thanks for sharing it!

Disney movie theme, has a terrific sweetness. Like the build up and then the calm. Cool ! Lots of stuff here. Your use of the suspenseful strings is very striking. This is a terrific sound and glad i listened!
Way to go!

is beautiful, so nice. love when the cello sounds come in and the piano starts picking up; but i also really love the beginning, and the organ, and when everything settles down at the end again. really haunting. i'm jealous of that melody, keep pumping them out.

dna speaks thru your music.......its true....engaging music.....full of life and sparkle......love the building strings...arpeggios....bell tones and simple but effective piano......your dna speaks well!

Tense yet expansive. Don't know if you're familiar with Carter Burwell's music he's a terrific film composer but I think you'd enjoy it. Of course you take this in your own wonderful Parichayaka direction which is uniquely wonderful and a great pleasure to listen to.
Best,
Charlie

Thanks for the tip! Didn't know of Carter Burwell but the few soundbites I've heard sound very interesting.

a very beautiful piece. I really love the simplicity of the opening piano chords. I say simple, but I mean rhythmically. They set the mood for this piece which to me has your signature sound. Also I really like the amount of layering you do. The choir, the xylophone(?) and the harp really added to the texture without overdoing it. Again your production is professional sounding. I am always excited to hear your music!

No wonder you're sitting way up top here... - this is gorgeous! Just a beautiful piece of writing and performing! I don't understand how it is that someone who consistently produces the caliber of music that you do, how you're not utilizing this passion to put bread on the table stumps me.
But maybe you do, and my ignorance struts like a peacock in heat right about, now...
Nice work, Sir. Thanks for putting it out for the grab.

p.s. hope I didn't just soil your page

I barely have enough time to sit down and do a new piece every few weeks. Not to speak of trying to make money from it, which is a whole nother ballgame! I'm happy that I can play for myself when I'm inspired to, and quite frankly - giving the tiniest bit of joy is worth a lot too. People who leave nice comments like you are obviously familiar with that kind of philosophy:) Thanks for that!

I think you already know what I think of this piece. Maybe because I love all of your work ... or maybe it's because I told you in chat the other day... Whatever the reason, I don't care. I'm still going to say it again in a real comment.
I really love this. Your sense of dynamics are a joy to listen to, as well as your beautiful melodies.
I can really hear a bit of Thomas Newman in this (especially in first half) but the escalation with the piano and the harp really sounded like Parichayaka.
Gorgeous stuff, yet again!

...ever let me down. Never. This is just so fine...

This is me happily and sincerely returning the compliment!

The build up towards the end gave me chills. I love the serenity of this. Very nice.
Parichayaka
I'm really happy you could relate to the song and picked up on the "serene" aspect of it. Thanks for listening/

...you have created such depth with your ingenous use of subtle orchestration and space.
I especially love the chord progressions, which contain little surprises throughout the piece, without 'overcrowding' the general flow of the composition.
Hats off, once again, Parichayaka!
Cheers, Thanks & Regards,
Alf

for listening so carefully. And maybe one day I'll even compose a piece worthy of your kind words:)

I just reviewed your piece Virtue at Garageband. I'm goin' for that "free" entry into the 'contest' where you blind review an inordinate amount of tunes then get an entry. Anyway... I've lost the thread, oh yeah I gave it a good 'un. With the exception of the vocal - bit too flaky. The chord structure was ace by the way. This particular tune - I'll be straight up I was typing while listening and it failed to sonically resonate although I get the overall impression that it was Phat. Be lucky.

i really like the melody once this gets going. i think the intro is a little long, but makes sense given the genre.
i would LOVE to have a go at this. have midi?

Ciao my friens....cosa posso dirti..ormai non ho pių aggettivi, questo piano cosė "tollerante", pieno di "vita" ma anche serioso, armonico e quel contorno di orchestra che cresce e arriva ogni dove...BRAVISSIMO..qhat i can to say... STRAORDINARIO

This IS film music. I love what you've captured here. It reminds of the style Jeff Beal used on the HBO series "carnivale". Great job. Thanks for sharing.

I see some others here have drawn some comparisons to the music of others...Jeff Beal...Carter Burwell ( both of whom I admire greatly). Well, I have another--Thomas Newman. The piano in this made me think of the piano in his ROAD TO PERDITION score. Really beautiful stuff.
I must echo what someone else here said: I never regret clicking on a new Parichayaka track.:) Thanks very much for the beautiful music.:)

This is beautiful, peaceful music that seems to come directly from your heart.
LunaTrick
Tremendous piece - slightly impressionistic opening - and that middle crescendo! This is a very accomplished composition.
many of your other pieces are more ambitious..and also gorgeous... but this one just takes the cake, for me. short, has a good story..i'm a sucker for piano anyway and the tibetan bell thingy clinches the deal. thanks for setting this one free!
Char
Your music is a joy to listen to. Thanks.

(i forgot to comment days back and i am doing it now)
this is a very beautiful / serene tune.
i love how refined and minimal your sound is - it's spacious, gentle and sensual
the twinkliness of the piano and plucked string arrangement compliments the main body so well!
the mood is very evocative. this seems very well suited for the beginning or the ending of a movie (especially the kind of serious movie where one should solve a mission, work out a conspiracy)!
thank you for sharing.

I am grateful for your friend's encouragement, for without it we would not enjoy the wondrous gift you have. Kepp on my friend.
Thanks,
