Description
Our most ambitious project yet, and our first quintet collaboration. Woohoo!
It was always a dream of mine to write and perform a female-fronted symphonic rock/metal song. I had no idea I'd find the perfect selection of collaborators short of being in a band. This tune took some time to get together, but we're really pleased with the end result.
This is a very dramatic song, with many exclamation points, both subtle and obvious. We hope you take the time to listen to and appreciate them. This song will be (no surprise) on our upcoming double CD, Pangaea, which we hope to wrap up this fall.
Credits:
Nadie Keating: Vocals/lyrics. A special note of thanks to Nadie for suggestions in nudging the song in the direction she did. What a superb performance she put into this track.
The artist known as Balok: Orchestration. Balok delivered the goods on this one. I'm afraid I've exfoliated the one remaining metal hair on his head, but it was worth it. The ending build still (!!) gives me goosebumps.
James Moore: Drums. Another stellar performance by our resident drummer extraordinaire. James continues to impress us with his ability to craft the perfect drum tracks for our very wide range of music.
John: Keyboards. The middle part of the song wouldn't have been what it is without his contributions. The classic DGO stamp.
Me: Music/mix/stringed things.
Thanks for listening!

Lyrics
Fractured Mind words by Nadie Keating
I’m alone inside my mind (I’m alone inside my mind)
In possession of the answers to the questions I can’t find
If you could, just shine a light on me.
Crawling slow across the floor
I have spiraled down much further than I ever have before
It’s so dark just shine your light on me
Chorus
Can’t sleep cause I don’t dream
Can’t east cause I don’t feed
Can’t love you cause I know it is a lie
Won’t get up of the floor
Can’t leave you till I’m sure
I don’t need no injection there’s no cure!
I saw the beauty die within
My fractured mind seized up refused to let my broken heart back in
It’s so bright just take this light off me
Chorus
Can’t sleep cause I don’t dream
Can’t eat cause I don’t feed
Can’t love you cause I know it is a lie
Won’t get up of the floor
Can’t leave you till I’m sure
I don’t need no injection there’s no cure!
I saw the beauty die within
It’s so dark now
I can see now
It’s so hard now
Not to break down
I can feel you
I can smell you
Want to touch you
Want and need you
I’m alone inside my mind (I’m alone inside my mind)
In possession of the answers to the questions I can’t find
If you could, just shine a light on me.
Crawling slow across the floor
I have spiraled down much further than I ever have before
It’s so dark just shine your light on me
Chorus
Can’t sleep cause I don’t dream
Can’t east cause I don’t feed
Can’t love you cause I know it is a lie
Won’t get up of the floor
Can’t leave you till I’m sure
