Description:
I don't know if people will like this track esp compared to some of the entries that have been submitted. I might have put too much distortion in the mix and some of the sounds might be too harsh. However it is pure techno and that might not please too many people either esp. compared to the original. I hope you appreciate that it is different to the original and other remixes.

This is fascinating. One of the things that has been the most fun for me with all these remixes of Saturnine is getting to hear where other people take the sounds of the vocal and sometimes the music from the song. I don't know if there's been a version, yet, with this much distortion in it, but I think it's very cool and very different. This version seems to play into the whole theme of lost memories and experiences in the lyrics.

I really like the interplay between the distorted portions that play under often very clean sounding percussive elements. The springy-reverbed portions of the vocals are really spooky and I especially enjoy that you brought the original's outro backwards vocals in, throughout the song, because those are my favorite part of the original. You made them new and interesting.

Thanks so much for doing this, Keith!

Wow, thank you very much &mdash 09/02/07 - 04:59:36 PM
I am touched by your encouraging comments. Thank you for letting me have the chance of remixing the track, it has been a pleasure. The remixes have evolved really, I did have an idea of what to do and then I got to work. The tracks have weaved and changed, but I am happy with what has been done although I was a bit nervous of the response. This does make your comments more appreciated.

Hey man,

I didn't even realize you posted 2 versions of this remix. I bet that's why the traffic is low. That'll teach ya to post 2 songs minutes apart with similar names! I got 1 MacJams email telling me about your new song(s).

This is completely different from the other mix. Those filthy distorted grindy noises and the thumpy beats are nicely paired up with those atmospheric Ledeb whispers.

I like the brief quiet break from the energetic cacophony that precedes it. You have introduced a ton of new sound ideas. I really like this one too. I guess I'll go ahead and download it too!

Wow, downloaded as well &mdash 09/06/07 - 04:27:09 PM
You are probably right about the low traffic, however it is marked techno and the remix names are different. I'm glad you appreciated all the sounds especially the vocals at the end. That was done by layering all the backing vocals together and bouncing them on to one track and then adding effects. I liked the mesh. Glad you liked it and it'll sound really good on the ipod. Till the next download.

Hmmm &mdash 09/09/07 - 04:17:43 PM
Writing as the tune goes on. I really like the melody, it has a good vibe. I know you explicitly state it being distorted and harsh. But in the intro you use several layers if synths, one is distorted, the other isn't. It doesn't work there, for ME! Just me. I also think it is the type of distortion you chose, is it digital? It lacks a certain warmth, and I know some distortion fx have that . By no means see my honesty as a dissaproval, I wouldn't write this if I didn't see a lot in the track (ask micheal2). The beat drops in and the stomp is fine. the 909 hi-hat works well. THe distorted bleep sounds good, alas the distortion over the pads is a bit distracting. The female vocals are VERY NICE!! THe outro is awesome. A fine piece. Although I like the later release better. Still, I fav'ed it since the idea and the expression are up to par.

Enjoyed.
