Description:
This song has been in developement for almost two months. We feel the patience has paid off!
The song will hit you like a brick!
Turn it up LOUD!
Jason came up with the concept and arrangemet after a few weeks of Allen's suggestions.
Then Allen worked his magic with his leads and incedible vocals.
This was an interesting blend of GB3 & 4
Jason did his recording in 3, mixed in 4, allen recorded in 4...
Another fine example of getting musical migrant workers to do the dirty work while we take the credit! :)

Lyrics:
Music: Montgomery California
Arrangement: Jason
Words: Allen

Bear my skin, and my soul
Show me the secrets
Seal me in, dark and silent
I need no forgiveness
Light my way, father,
Show me the candle’s ebb
A tomb of gold waits
On a sea of forever

Lord of light, lord of darkness, guide my hand
Mighty Ra, lord Anubis Take me home
In this tomb, in this temple, I will sail
Upon the seas of the Nile to my home

Build me a temple to the sky
Fill it with the metal of golden light
Let no man breach their stone walls
Lest death and eternal curse be thine

The road to forever is long, and may take years
But I am pharaoh, the anointed Son of God
The sands of time are my allies
The measure of it as an instant
I am chosen,
I am eternal,
I am forever,
I am your father,

I am pharaoh
I am pharaoh

honorable mention &mdash 09/01/07 - 12:41:13 AM
all i did here was procrastinate.....
jason was very patient with this, my first lazy song turnaround...
i played the solo runs, and the lead melody.
i sang the words
i wrote some odd semi-egyptian lyrics

jason whitman did everything else on this one from concept to final mixdown
very very cool tune, i think, and one that is hard to categorize....
i hope everyone enjoys this , and comes out to listen to our tunes daily....

YOUR influence and creative direction IS what made this song.
I am very proud of it. I think we achieved something rare... something original!
and this is just the beginning!
thanks, bro for your "procrastination" as you call it. the song would not be what it is without it!

...twice as heavy ... and nearly as long to build! A great dense production, awesome guitars and Allens throat ripping vocals make this a heavy, beautiful beast.

We salute you, MC!

and thought of this a few days ago. jason and i have been making some cool tunes. tunes we would not have ever thought of without this site. hell, two guys who might never have thought to collab without this site... he has pushed me in a direction at times i thought not to go. and as far as mixing, his songs have had a vast effect on my ability to at least make everything sound the same... love this site, and love the fact there are some really good peeps out here who can get together and kick ass no matter which continent you reside!

Awesome.. &mdash 09/04/07 - 03:59:40 PM

extremely well put together this .. crafted to perfection .. hints of Metallica and "The thing that should not be" .. and the Egyptian setting kinda makes me think of "Creeping death" a bit ..I love ancient Egypt stuff.. facinating culture.

having spotted some influence (and I mean shades of and not stolen) and putting that aside, this rocks! Excellent performances all round, mix also sounds good to me too, no quibbles. Got that commercial ring to
this one ...

A superb collab/outfit .. eagerly awaiting the MC album
.. I think this is my favourite of the MC tracks so far .. your respective talents are working very well together here.

Wow! Thanks Alan! &mdash 09/04/07 - 04:21:39 PM
I really appreciate you taking the time to come by and check it out!
Funny thing is the whole thing began to come together in concept when i am learning 'angry again' by megadeth some years ago. in fact, there is a very small part that is exactly the same few notes as the song. i started playing it and it took me away to a different place. i was like, "how did i get here from there?" oh well. that's rock n' roll.
when allen sent me the rough draft of lyrics, i was like "perfect" cuz i had something like 'creeping death' mind, too for a vocal concept.
but, oddly, i do not think either of us intentionally went to metallica for influence. "the thing" is even in the same tuning and key, but that's coincidence.
funny how a train of thought can drive, though.
thanks, friend!!!
toi have you say it's perhaps your fav means a LOT to me personally. so, from my heart, THANK YOU!!!

thanks, apb &mdash 09/05/07 - 12:31:40 PM
had alot of fun on this one, mainly due to the fact all i had to do was lay down some solos and sing... everything else is all jay-dog...
his compostition stumped me for a long time, and i was not quite sure what to do about lyrics, then my tapestry of Eddie hanging on my studio wall spoke to me, asking me "what would Iron Maiden do?"
i have always listened to what my posters and tapestries of Eddie tell me to do, and that day was no different... so, thanks to the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, my blatant rippery of the entire Powerslave album in one 5 minute song has reaped it's just reward!

YA!!! &mdash 09/28/07 - 02:16:28 PM
I love the way the strings start together with the intro. It was a WALL of sound hitting you in the face. It has a very evil undertone. By the end of this I was throwin' up the devil horns! Let me say DAMN! on that note in the end Allen, It sent chills up my spine! I gotta say it, this F***ING ROCKS!!!! Mix, production, performance, all ten's in my book. This had so many great aspects I could go on for hours.

Congrats you two. The dynamic duo strike again!

Peace. BTW, "I!!!!!!!!!"

many thanks, brothers.
we are highly pleased that the song was enjoyable.
it means a lot to have both of you 'metal-heads' come and listen, comment, and above-all ENJOY our latest offering!
with many more to come, keep and ear to the ground for the thunder our new offerings shall bring, haha!

as for the "dark" quality of the tune...
i started the whole thing with just acoustic. then built it from there. actually, the acoustic is under the whole song. i think that "dark" tone comes from there. the mic i used really captured the tone well, then the light touch of chorus really accented the mood.
i write everything on acoustic. this time, i felt it was the best base to record from, too.

thanks again, guys!
