Description:
This is the compact mix, being my first foray into cloud travel.

It's basically about travelling through clouds and coming out, periodically, into the sunlight, and a musical impression of what this would be like, in my minds eye.

This mix was completed early in 2007. I've just rediscovered 236 mixes, of varying styles, lengths and genres. How could I forget these you might ask. I've no idea, I might reply.

I think that all this discovery proves is that I lack focus, or at least focus for any time span over a couple of hours.

It's actually scarey, the number of mixes I've found that I had forgotten about.

236! &mdash 09/01/07 - 02:30:15 PM
you say. If they are all of this quality that would be an unexpected joy in my book. A wonderful interpretation of cloud watching. Hope you discover more treasures on the HD

Thanks for leaving a thought or two... &mdash 09/02/07 - 03:24:29 AM
I have since found 4 other takes on this piece, in this directory. There are also lots of mixes that are the same as uploaded pieces but just with their working or original titles, when I first save the piece I was working on at any time.

They all mysteriously vanished until yesterday because at the time I was actively using these files I started to run out of space so I moved them somewhere else on another external hard disk. This was done in a panic and was forgotten, as I just proceded to create another set of files in my current 'working directory'. The other reason they vanished is that the title of this directory was 'Softsynthstuff' and I just assumed, recently, that this was VSTi plugin downloads.

The revised number of usefull files has now dropped to nearer 200, with mix lengths of anything from 16 seconds to over 8 minutes. Still a relative treasure trove of ideas.

Take care.

Paul.

Hello Reinholt &mdash 09/02/07 - 02:19:43 AM
way cool! Which organ synth did you use? Already feel like floating in the clouds. Thank you

Hi Enrique..... &mdash 09/02/07 - 03:15:05 AM
The sounds all came from an old Sound Font 2 compilation. I loaded the SF2 file into a player and played around with the settings until things sounded suitably mangled and then I made the recording.

The sound font was one of a few that came with a registered soft synth, so are not available freely.

Lovely &mdash 09/02/07 - 08:24:49 AM
sensations of spaciousness and magnificence with the synth. Great depth of sound yet airy and free. Very descriptive of clouds I must say, M

Thanks for listening and leaving a few words....

I am glad that my ideas were able to be 'seen' by others.

I rest contented.

Thanks for visiting Mr B.... &mdash 09/03/07 - 01:19:22 PM
I'm very happy that you listened to my cloud song.

The synths are what attracted me enough to make the mix. There are 3 other, longer versions, with the same or very, very similar settings. (I may upload the others over the next few weeks, between all my other stuff).

Take care.

Paul.

I see what you mean, Michael..... &mdash 09/03/07 - 01:22:50 PM
The emotional quality of my music will hopefully be felt by most if not all of the listeners.

Sometimes these mixes evoke something that may have been missed by me. That is what I love about music. The shades of colours that sound can conjure up, sometimes out of nowhere.

Thanks for listening and leaving me a word or two.

If music helps you chill or relax then I think that can only be a good thing.

Take care.

There's something... &mdash 09/06/07 - 11:26:17 AM
about flying through dense clouds that is awe inspiring. I'm always making up music when I fly through them. Formless yet moving tunes. A sort of muffled transitory experience.
I really enjoyed this Paul. Hope you find and bring out more of these gems.
Best,
Charlie

Hey Charlie &mdash 09/06/07 - 01:15:39 PM
You sort of summed up my life:

'a muffled, transitory experience'.

Thanks for your kind, inspirational words.

I'm toying with a classical piece at the moment, so my output has dropped almost to zero. I don't often go 5 days and only produce 33 seconds of music. It's driving me mad.

Thanks for listening and leaving a word or two.

Take care.

Paul.

Flying.... &mdash 09/22/07 - 10:34:15 AM
Tumbling, thick, dissipating, fog clearing to a flash of sunlight, ever reforming....I'm up there!. Thanks Paul!
