Song Description

I once was deeply in love with Ula Hemla. Infatuated. Obsessed. But that was another lifetime. On a long and winding road.

For many years this place was called "The Seven Sacred Pools" a name that was actually a marketing gimmick intended to attract tourists to the area (the pools are not sacred and there aren't seven of them). It is a series of lovely waterfalls and swimmable pools that cascade until reaching the ocean at the volcano's base. The flow of water that made its way through volcanic rock and rain forest engulfs the place with lush vegetation. It's a very lovely spot.

tonight I'll dream of Ula Hemla

Masterful piece - beyond description really - I love it.

for a while, my wife and i were going to move to Maui.

but it didn't happen. mostly because of family ties...

i had fun with the chromatic descending steps in this - that became the falling water idea once i got around to mapping the music to words...

thanks

ula
I was once hopelessy in love with uma thurman. I know that doesn't count. Still your track conjures up those embers of desire as well as create imagery of an exotic locale. well done

wow thanks for reminding me of Uma

Ula Hemla came from the few syllables the voice synth could produce - it all spun out from there

i put that strings interlude in there at first only for contrast, but it grew on me as i worked on this, and i stretched it out and embellished it. it does have some sort of glowing embers thing going, doesn't it?

eventually that part became the "island fever" concept i suppose...

Man alive!
Couldn't sit still listening to this Bill! Bass and percussion are awesome...Your piano playing blows me away, and the production really messes with my head (in a good way). Well done!

Be well!
