I am glad you liked this, I am a big fan of drone too, and am glad you thought it was a good addition. Anything meditational, I think, enables us to reach deeper.

That is drones &mdash 09/09/07 - 01:47:00 AM
enable us to reach deeper, but then, ofcourse that is what meditation is about, but that is when I am partial to drones too!!!

I really felt composing was going well for me, some earlier flamenco falsettas worked nicely with this ancient arabic melody for improvisation. Would love to add drum!!!

the drone is from an electic tanpura, which is a box that generates the drone of the acoustic indian instrument that backs up all North Indian Classical music. I believe they sampled an actual tanpura player, but you can adjust the box for any key or tempo, and even plug it into a PA for concerts.

Love that Tanpura. George Harrison introduced me to that drone (and to Ravi Shankar!), and I've been addicted ever since. It provides a wonderful background to your beautiful playing Bro. Bard!

Be well!

Yes, tanpura, and sitar is in many beatles songs. Indeed ravi shankar was his guru. If you haven't already checked it out, is daughter, Anoushka Shankar, is a great sitar player!!!!
