you know, I'm not sure who floored who. What an awesome thing to say! You prompted me to go back and look at her work and recall the tragedies of her life. Her work is so expressive, dramatic, yet subtle too. What I find most remarkable is that her spirit, creativity, and independence remained strong no matter what else failed her.
Take care and be well on your tour.

the art and the ART... &mdash 09/10/07 - 08:59:38 AM
Uh. Wow.
1) Drums. Boom.
2) Music. It seems minimal but still very full.
3) Vocals. You have one of the best voices here. The harmonies are eerily delicious.
4) Lyrics. Again eery. I like that they're not fully comprehensible but there are words and phrases that stand out.
5) Song art. A perfect fit. [ Reply to This ]

When I hear this... &mdash 09/10/07 - 11:09:16 AM
...it puts me in the mindset of "The Matrix." You know that part where they were all in the club/church/meeting place. The way that technology was so improved yet things were so primitive at the same time.
This was definately an enjoyable piece; especially the drums. The singing is really good as well. [ Reply to This ]

splendid &mdash 09/10/07 - 03:17:10 PM
Very atmospheric piece of art, and the beat is simply hypnotising. Great arrangement and production. Can I make a little suggestion? Take away that curtain of reverb on some parts in the vocals. Your classy voice is a strong weapon. Don't hide it, you have loads of talent.

That what happens when you sing. The music was also a pure delight. Minimal, yet spacious, allowing the imgination to play in between the rythymic sonics. Great art work. [ Reply to This ]

Dangerous! &mdash 09/11/07 - 04:48:44 PM
I like that in a song. Dangerous start, nice middle-eastern way of singing (a tad too in the back and missing the highs). I am saying this since I know your voice is like Turkish honey and thus needs all the room it can get. Kind of funny that is too much in the back since producers tend to do that, not the off-the-shelf-vocalists. Well luckily for all of us you are not! Ha! You shot your self in the foot though, but i'll stop this bla bla. The oemf/bass is funkalicious and makes me wanna fly to the nearest dancefloor. Awesome lyrics, couldn't understand them, couldn't care cos it is like honey. Top job mam! Again, you are one of the best here in the genre of what ever you choose. Your creativity and expression subsequent sounds, beats and production is getting top-notch. Funny thing as a closer is that when I like a song a lot, I most of the times think it is too short.....alas etc....

The more I listen... &mdash 09/12/07 - 07:43:45 PM
...the more I love this... Funny, I tend to be a 'lyrics' guy, but I've listened three times now without tuning in to the meaning of the lyrics...
I love the beat and feel of this...
I also think this is one of your best mixes, from among the ones I've heard. I love the high tinkling percussion accents way up above the deep bass subsonics. I also think you've done a wonderful job with the doubled vocals...very tight singing and exceptionally well mixed...
It was funny reading McBoy's post, 'cause my wife and I watched 'Frida' the other night, and her face popped into my mind while listening to this as well...

always hope... &mdash 09/14/07 - 04:57:03 PM
that listeners will stick in there and listen a couple of times. I understand my style is different and will not likely appeal to the average listener. Thank you for giving me time to persuade you. The lyrics of a lot of my songs are written so that only a few people in my life might understand. It's personal, so I only give shades and phrases to present any meaning to the listener. On top of that, I like work that can be open to a lot of different interpretations as then more people may be able to relate to themselves. I hope you took a copy for yourself so that you can listen and enjoy whenever you wish. Thanks again, Ed.

Amazing song/performance/production &mdash 09/12/07 - 09:03:44 PM
Really good vocally and musically, and the production is superb. The low drum/bass certainly gave my 'phones a workout (not to mention my ears). Like others, I haven't got to the lyrics yet.
Amazing voice and tight, tight harmonising.
Fantastic!

What they... &mdash 09/16/07 - 07:12:23 PM
...said. This is a stunning recording. The heart beat bass just floors me. And what great vocals%u2014so well controlled and beautifully delivered. This is quite a unique compositon in so many ways and one that just gets under your skin...(my third listen!!!). One wonders how you conceive of this kind of orchestration, compelling as it is and so delicately mixed. My only beef (it's maybe not too important) is that I could not understand the lyrics. Had you printed them out, I'd have been able to enjoy that, too. Um, the scales and harmonies you are using are reminiscent of Middle Eastern music (to my ears)...Love it.
Peace.

Middle Eastern? &mdash 09/18/07 - 07:16:21 AM
I have been very surprised to get that comment on a few of my latest pieces. It's certainly not a bad thing, but I find it interesting. As far as wondering how I conceived of this orchestration...My music often creates itself, I just go with the flow;) I really appreciate your in depth comment, curiosity and kindness.

I hear... &mdash 09/18/07 - 09:43:30 AM
...touches of "Bjork" and "Kate Bush" in here... with a dash of "Peter Gabriel" rhythm. I don't mean to categorize, but I had to make those comparisons. Not having read any other comments here, I also must mention the vibrato on your phrases... very captivating. Harmonies are superb. All-in-all... a great song! Wish it were longer.

Nothing &mdash 05/29/08 - 09:42:57 PM
Nothing I can say that hasn't been said already. Fabulous beats in this - extremely hypnotic. And your vocals blend so well with the instrumentation and beats that it's hard to even remember there are lyrics. It just all grooves into one gorgeous, meditative sound bed. Very well produced, depth and clarity. Just beautiful. [ Reply to This ]
