Description:
This is an old song given new life.
We recorded this Saturday at our second jam/practice.
I had no mic to sing through, as we were using to record the room, so what you can hear of my vocals through the wall of noise is quiet and strained. I'd been singing with no mic for an hour or so. In the long run it's probably good excercise, but it makes for a lousy sound.

The drummer Tom and I both messed up in the middle at the same spot, but we got it back together in a second or two.

It's a really rough take with a few mistakes, but it gives a good idea of where we're going with this.

I'll post some more, cleaner stuff as we progress.

Nice Piece, the guitar here sounds good, the drums really great, so nice to hear live jam from you ! For the vocal just don't care, really sounds good to my ears but wish to hear Clear version of this with a little acoustic touches, it will be sth great ! Enjoyed

Take Care

overall &mdash 09/10/07 - 07:40:09 PM
glad you enjoyed the overall intentions of this piece. With a little more time put into the tightness of the whole thing I think we'll have a few decent recordings in a week or so.
Thanks for the kind words, again; I'm glad you dig it!

I'd know &mdash 09/10/07 - 05:23:12 PM
that voice anywhere - even if it is lost in the background. Like the ideas here and looking forward to the finished product.
Cheers

thanks. &mdash 09/10/07 - 07:37:15 PM
I think another jam or two and we'll start laying recording a few more serious takes of things. I'll figure something out for the vocals too, for sure.
thanks for stopping in.

What? &mdash 09/10/07 - 07:19:17 PM
You were doing what for how long? Just be careful with that voice, will ya?

I do get the idea of where this is going, and like it. I don't see it taking long for your jamming to progress into really great things....I'll be tuned in;)

rusty pipes &mdash 09/10/07 - 07:34:23 PM
Thank you.
I'm really excited about this whole thing. I think it sounds alright for our second try. I'd like to start playing some shows around peterborough and toronto by the end of autumn or sooner.
I haven't been in a band in a while; it feels very good.

Thanks too for voicing your concern, or your voicing concern, at it were. yes, it was a very taxing afternoon for the old pipes, and a vocal moniter will be my next purchase for sure!
see you around,

so glad that you got a band together. you are great at the heavier side of things, and this is no exception. can't wait to hear you guys with full blown production.

Thank you &mdash 09/10/07 - 09:57:52 PM
I've been in a whole bunch of bands, but always as part of a project aimed at someone else's vision, you know? Good practice for playing and singing and learning epuipment and other fun band stuff, but it always just felt like doing covers i'd never heard.
So this is sort of new and exciting to have a couple guys i've know for a long time with a lot of talent and passion who are as serious about it as I am.
I've got a hand full of stuff we're working on, as well as some cool covers just to get us in gear for some gigs, and then we'll be writing new stuff together which will definately be cool.
I can't wait to start posting some of it.
Thanks for checking it out.

Considering the lack of tools..... &mdash 09/11/07 - 12:08:44 AM
You still did a fine job fellers! This is going to kick ass when you get the vocals out front! I like your concept and where you are going with this. Nice work guys, I really enjoyed the listen. Keep on keepin on,

Alvin

well epuiped &mdash 09/15/07 - 09:59:02 AM
Thanks man. Ya, the epuipment thing is a bit of a bummer. I keep saying I want to rely on the energy of the music to carry it, rather than a wall of sound, but under the circumstances a few of these songs will be projected through aggression rather than just energy. I don't really want that. I like angry music, I think it's quite a healthy outlet, but I'd like this Caustic Autumn thing to be pretty heavy without being metal.
Thanks for stopping by.

Power trio &mdash 09/11/07 - 01:04:18 AM
I like the composition. Like alot of your stuff it's through-composed, not the usual verse courus thing at least it doesn't come across that way. The overall sound is big and powerfull and good. I like the vocal performance alot. Its more "screamy" than some of your other stuff, but it sounds good that way, and it fits in with the music. I hear alot of potential here. Regards

v/c/v/c/v/c/v/c/v/c &mdash 09/15/07 - 09:53:24 AM
I only have a handfull of songs from the last 5 or 10 years that actually have a chorus. I usually just have half a dozen verses. I catch a lot of flack from some people wo tell me that you'll never be successful without the hook, but I don't really care. I initially write them all for myself. Their appeal and marketabily is an afterthought, if it occurs to me at all.
Thanks, my friend, for the continued support.

I tried to boost the ratings on this a bit &mdash 09/11/07 - 07:11:30 PM
but, unfortunately, you need straight 10's just to get on the Ratings Picks list these days.
Raw, real sound on this; I'll be a little disappointed when you get your production thing together. Earnestly awaiting your next post, I remain,

thanks jim. &mdash 09/11/07 - 11:53:28 PM
If there was a "Grunge" genre on the list I would have put it there. I've always enjoyed being as DIY as it gets. I agree, the things like recording a song you've only played as a band three or four times, and having less than ideal surroundings and equipment do tend to let then thing thrive on just the energy of the band and the song itself. I think we'll hold out on a fourth member for as long as possible, just to be sure we maintain the mindset of not having a wall of sound to rely on.
Glad you could dig on this!

Glad you enjoyed it. we had to postpone our last jam, so it might be a week or two before we get any more recording done, but i'll have it up as soon as i can.
