Description:
My interpretation of the old children's rhyme / song / chant, "Going to the Garden to Eat Worms."
Lyrics:
Nobody likes meEverybody hates me
Going to the garden
Nobody loves me
Everybody hates me
Going to the garden
Mmm...
And I hate me, too
Just like all of you do
Oh, I do
Going to the garden to eat worms
Going to the garden to taste the earth
Going to the garden to bite the dust
Going to the garden to be eaten by worms
Nobody likes me
Everybody hates me
Going to the garden...

once again, your richly sparse wonderfully twisted melodic progressions and choice of instrumentation create a delicately dangerous beauty. Your twists on the lyrics tinge youthful innocence with jaded age... and your voice wanders skillfully between the girl and the lady. I think I really like this, it is like some of your others, deliciously written, and distressingly depressing. It is so nice to see another song by you, thank you for sharing your talent with us!
ttfn,

very soothing....not depressing at all. Love the 'going to the garden to be eaten by worms' twist.
Enjoyed this a lot. Thanks for the DL.

Achingly sorrowful, like a faded rose that drops its petals when you touch it. You've made powerful use of your very sweet and resonant voice with the delicate music box tones to create a chilling effect. The way the voices overlap and merge into the music adds to the sense of wanting to dissolve into the earth.
Very nicely done!

I haven't been very good about replying to comments and feel sorry for that but i finally had to take the time to at least respond to *this* because it is so eerie:
When you wrote: "Achingly sorrowful, like a faded rose that drops its petals when you touch it."
That is exactly how i feel, in those dark times! In fact, i have referred to myself as a wilting rose in certain forums in which i used to participate. And the way you have described it, well, i couldn't have said it better myself - and i am me!
I guess i think it is neat that you recognize this, somehow, through this song.
And i am glad i found these music sites, they've really made a difference in my life.

You need to hook up with Tim Burton. :-) I LOVE your music. Highest respects.

Lovely production and sounds. Love your vocals and playing/textures.... there's a touch of the 'Baby Jane's' in a nice way.Haunting! Really enjoyed this, M

.. John Carpenter "Halloween" touch to this .. spooky,
haunting, chilling .. yup a missing song from Tim
Burton's "Corpse Bride".
Only nits is some of the sliding up vocal notes are a little out, and sounds like a little clipping when you sing stronger.. but I don't hate you for it ;o).. in this otherwise superb piece of work...for the atmosphere alone I'd give it 10 .. and think it could happily sit in "cinematic/soundtrack"..
I dig that breathy spooky voice you do .. I'd like to
hear you sing out strong too. You'll be sick of the
Kate Bush comparisons by now I guess ..:o)
If you had Logic .. I would have suggested softening
some of the 'plosives' a little too on the vox...
without losing the closeness/intimate touch you get
so close to the mic.

Love the way you use your voice in the sparse acoustic landscapes you create. I still think a duet with Walter (moorlandt) would work a treat.

Lovely song even though its a sad one. Very well done, I am still in a bit of a confusing state over this track. Great track.

really good. First song I've ever downloaded in my 11 months here.

Consistently in your vocal performances... you have this detached quality..
very "Mercy Street" as Gabriel enters the next stanza...
"Pulling out the papers from the drawers that slide smooth
Tugging at the darkness, word upon word
Confessing all the secret things in the warm velvet box
To the priest... hes the doctor
He can handle the shocks
Dreaming of the tenderness... the tremble in the hips
Of kissing marys lips"
It's as if you are observing your own life from a distance...
While "going to the Garden" is innocent enough... you give it a whole new context.. almost sinister... not evil...you are no threat to others.. only yourself...
I wrote a song called "sleep"... posted under another name... and when I sing the lyric "now I lay me down to sleep"... I'm really singing about an inevitable suicide... you pull this off in spades... the undercurrent is so strong in this, that no one could mistake it for a child's nursery rhyme..
I'm a fan

I must say. If you feel as bleak as this I do not know how you get anything done. I'd be wallowing in self pity and despire. I hope from the coments here you descern that not everybody hates you.
ramonaji
so I could listen to a bunch of your songs at once instead of having to wait... ! Awesome!
