Description:
This is a collaboration with Egobandit and Haribo. I took up Egobandit's offer to mess with his song Spin and I lifted some of his next song
Circus too. After putting them both through the blender and adding backwards slowed down open tuned acoustic guitar - I felt it needed vocals. That's when I searched the music page for A Cappella entries and discovered Quicksand (Acappella version) by Haribo. I was very pleased the way Haribo's vocals dropped right in with very little treatment. Note to Haribo: Many thanks I hope you're cool with this - I wrote you but haven't heard back.

Warning: 20 bpm.

If you're looking for easy listening - I don't think you'll find it here. If you like Can - and have been taking your anti-depressants you should be fine.

Many thanks to Egobandit for the invitation to mess with his stuff, and I hope Haribo digs it.

Lyrics:
when you are stuck
forget not to blame

when you are thrown
forget not to crawl back

when you are cramped
forget not to push

and when you are trapped
remember to fight!@!

how do you do that backward thingy. took it to whole new place. Wow i thought it was experimental when i made it! thanks Bud for showing intrest i guees you dont need the bass line... oh 20 bpm a new standard!

Couldn't wait for the bass - &mdash 09/14/07 - 07:12:35 PM
got itchy submit finger - you know how that is. Thanks for the great raw mats - 20 bpm rules. I took it up to 8o to play finger style guitar and then brought the guitar back down to 20 and reversed it in Audacity. If you're not messing with Audacity you should be - it's a great tool. It has cool filters and processors - but the best thing it does is change speed or tempo or pitch independently and reverse tracks too. You can download it free at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Have fun.

I am in a total nod! 20bpm! It's gotta be a first, can't beat it. My paxil is well in place and I am groovin'. I loved reading about your process on this one. Certainly a methodology that only the amazingly experimental egobandit could inspire. I love when the piano (?) cuts in and it gets all warm and cozy. And surfing the acapella song list posting? Genius! Good stuff.

Desperation will drive a man &mdash 09/14/07 - 11:04:16 PM
to strange places - like the acappella song listings. I had to find the next thing to pull this tune together - and I think I struck gold with haribo. I love this place. And yes - when you start with egobandit - it's only gonna get weirder. Thanks for stopping by - you're on a tear with echoroom man.

Voice4Choice and michael2's recent tune w/mysti inspired me to go for the acapella page.

i love it &mdash 09/14/07 - 10:18:51 PM
it's sooo slow and makes me feel like i've been awake for 4 days and nights. i love all the sounds in the background. would love to hear a dub version of this (wish i could figure out how to get that kind of delay right). i'm into the 20 BPM tempo as well, this is right up my alley, amazing what you can find in the acapella section huh? you did a really cool thing here, not depressing at all.

i'm with you on Audacity. indispensable. i have it loaded on my Mac and the PC I use at work (fun way to spend my downtime).

Maybe the next stop for this tue is &mdash 09/14/07 - 11:33:01 PM
DJ French Toast to give it a trip hop treatment. Then I'll take it back and add some delayed melodica. Yum. I'm glad you didn't think it was depressing - though it just means we're both sick.

sent something to DJFT about a week ago, he should be done with it soon. i could definitely see this get that kind of treatment. and yes, we are both very sick individuals.

ah sorry. Very trippy. wild how the different sources meshed together. Now I'm even wondering what 10bpm would come out as.

don't blame you. 10 bpm - when is a song clinically dead? or is there only vegetative state - then silence? Thnks for dropping in.

Keep an ear out for my buddy LSD 25 who just signed up.

You know.. &mdash 09/15/07 - 02:02:40 AM
..I always associate you with great rock stuff, but recently, your experimental work has been really inspiring me ... level of actual was great. This is a real bad-drug experienec track ... sluggish and moody... hearing work like this really pushes me to try and experiment. Great work bud

Real bad drug experience &mdash 09/15/07 - 08:38:08 AM
thanks for hitting the nail on the head - I couldn't quite place why this track was so difficult yet alluring for me to work on - now I know. Also thanks for the kind compliments - I'm flattered. Your recent work is setting a new standard around here when it comes to rock.

thought that I was strange!

I've been moaning about slow download speeds but I didn't understand slow at all until this.

Some very interesting sounds going on here that are extremely unsettling and make you pay attention.

Cheers

it takes us away and makes sound more special - glad this worked for you. Would you be interested in giving this a trip hop treatment? Michael2 mentioned a dub version and I thought of you.
