Yes, running through the jungle, exactly. I'm glad this was heart pounding; it was a little exhausting just working on it, listening over and over. Thanx, man!

Thanks, Philip, I appreciate that. I like that fast talking announcer too; he's saying different things in each channel, stuttered via supatrigga. I thought it was a really cool effect.

Juggling a billion sound slices
I think this is what atomic fission sounds like, or maybe the soundtrack to that part of the movie where the crew braces themselves in the spaceship as it enters the hyper-grasp of a black hole, and light, time, and memory slowly get blended, chopped and stretched into infinity. What a trip! Only somebody like you could keep track of all these bits and create such a psychadelic whole, greater than the parts.

I think you're right on the money with the black hole time and space warpage. And 'blended, chopped and stretched' practically defines my procedures here. Dragons are always surprisingly perceptive! Thanks for listening to this aural assault. I promise my next post will be harmonious and smooth by comparison, haha!

I have no words.
I am not word-thy.

But wow. It's okay. They're shipping me a new brain.

I'll listen again when it arrives. And, my friend is going to show me how to radically mod the cerebral cortex AND fit me out with a totally rad lizard brain stem...

AND I'm gonna put my headphones on BACKWARDS...

What I'M talking about...

The backwards headphones'll give you a completely opposite song! Good call. But about those brain mods... I dunno man, now I'm concerned about the melding plague. You saw what it did to the captain of _Nostalgia_for_Infinity_, didn't you?

Well, maybe that's more of a long term, even fictional problem. Thanks taking this Quetzlzacatenangan thrill ride, Ed!

I think there's room here for both dancing/swinging from vines and running with the blade. I suppose with the body of a dancing Shiva you could pull that off in synchrony with this piece. Thank you, K.I.S.!

I'd give you straight 10's just for the title! What a trip man. What a trip. I think I heard most of this in my head back in '71 whilst trying to sleep off several hits of Orange Sunshine!

Be well!

Yes, when that orange sunshine lights up your brain, it feels like this, doesn't it? I'm glad you took this trip, thanks for stopping by! As for the title, I have to credit that to the Simpsons writers; it's one of Chief Wiggum's best sound bites!

Warren Smith said 795 days ago (September 19th, 2007)
Sound painting
You've salted - and peppered - this song with lots of spicy sounds : >

I like how you double-up sounds in the right and left channels (like the overlapping vocals or the cowbells, for example). It creates a funky dialog between the channels. Yet, it is never clear to me what the speakers are talking about. Jabbering gibberish, I guess. I always seem to be on the verge of "getting it," only to never cross the threshold of understanding. You seem to be painting with sound.

It's not surprising you are having trouble identifying appropriate catergories for these inventive pieces. I see that as a sign of creative growth. Instead of constructing a new piece by a pre-conceived notion of style, you've been developing your own music organically - letting it unfold like a flower.

After it has bloomed, and you step back to survey the stem, leaves and flowers ... and its veins, thorns and tendrils ... it's often hard to identify its genre ... because that is not how it was made.

Warren
Thanks, I like the sound painting analogy, and your description of my style. And it's right on. I mean, I've been having fun with _sound_ for a long time... it's only recently that elements of _music_ have gotten into my soundscape experiments (and vice versa). So, yeah I'm not sure how you categorize 'songs' that have evolved in such a way, with no regard for genre. Thanks for sampling these spices, Warren.

Quetzl-za-what?
There are a lot of great sections in this... and, of course, all threaded together with the giddy PV energy. With that "announcer" voice, quick beats and beeps, it sounds like a race for tiny people.

Haha, now when I hear that voice section I can't help but think of a micro horse race, with the announcer time compressed and lots of miniature action. Good call!
