Description:
When Bryn invited me to add vocals to one of his 'untitled' instrumental tracks, I jumped at the chance!

To me, the track sounded like something underwater and mysterious, full of atmosphere and ambience.

What you hear is the first mix of this with my vocals added. Bryn will do a future mix as well

Enjoy! :)

Great stuff &mdash 09/17/07 - 03:06:57 AM
Oh I love this -

Floaty and perfect. Great vocals, some of your best I think. The spoken vox is wonderful and dreamy - perfect compliment to the ambient melodies you come up with in the background.

This really is a classy track. Love it!
Cheers,

Phil

...for these comments! This seemed the perfect track for spoken vox, and it's nice to hear that others agree.

Thanks again for such kind words!

(And thanks to Bryn for a fab instrumental track to sing to :)

Almost Latin in rhythm...... &mdash 09/17/07 - 05:25:48 AM
I think that the singing side is mixed and moody enough, with the spoken words, to pull this off.

The backing is lush and, if the percussion instruments were replaced with Latin percussion, we'd have a Latin Ambient or Ambient Latin piece, because the rhythm, being strong, has this South American feel, to me.

Overall everything melded into a quality production.

Paul.

Never know... &mdash 09/17/07 - 11:04:52 PM

Beautiful, people. Beautiful...

very nice. I love the harp/water sounding music here, and your wordless voice in there is beautiful and a perfect match.

Would love to read what you're spoken words say - all I could make out was "there's a ripple effect"

One of the great pleasures in collaborating with Bryn is that, when he sends me a track for a listen, I can usually hear a 'vocal match' right away.

To me, portraying water shimmering, sparkling and rippling was an instant 'match' for this instrumental.

Here are the spoken words:

"Have you ever felt like you're drowning?
You can see the light sparkling off the water,
But you're just beneath the surface

And there's a ripple effect--
And the water shimmers and moves,
And sunlight reflects off things like water lilies and dragonflies.

So close...but just beyond your reach.

Have you ever lingered just beneath the surface?
And looked to the ripple effect and the sunlight shimmering above

Have you ever dreamed you were drowning?...
...just beneath the surface."

An audio confection! &mdash 09/19/07 - 02:43:09 PM
Floating, drowning, or flying...?
Sounds like a bit of all that.
Saw some red-bodied dragon flies in Montana...
Always such tone painting brilliance from the two of you.
An audio confection!

I am glad you can see (and hear) the colours we are using in our tone paintings

A perfect way to describe the packets of sound that we upload here

Seductive &mdash 09/19/07 - 06:56:42 PM
This is so lush you're making the notion of drowning seem strangely appealing. The rhythm track seems unvarying but this never gets distracting or irritating and indeed sounds rather like being in a clock shop, giving a sense in going back in time. Perhaps this is another episode in the 'warped nostalgia' series...

I'm really amazed at the frequency at which you and Biba are able to create such outstanding tracks.

What is warped nostalgia series?

I have been very keen for quite a long time now to do something that relates to the relationship between memory and reality - seeing something in your minds eyes that you remember as kid for example and then going back and seeing the reality through new eyes. It has happened to me quite a few times and on each occasion has been quite a disturbing experience (the realisation that the idealised memory of a place, a person, a situation doesn't always look so rosey when you are able to revisit them and see them in the cold light of day.)

Anyway...thanks for listening and commenting on the music here. I too am amazed at our prolific output over the last year.

Well... &mdash 09/20/07 - 03:48:06 PM
... I'm glad you replied to my comment, what you've said makes sense and was kinda what I was taking out of the music. Warped Nostalgia? That's a phrase I used to discribe your recent track 'The Summer Day' and Mysti seemed to like it!

thought that drowning could be so beautiful?
The vocals on this are so dreamily wonderful and the whole production fills the brain with lovelyness. Perfect.
