A Morning On The Edge Of Time

Description
The melody is from Leprechauns of Carnlough.... everything else was rewritten, the song was re- recorded from start to finish....... this version is in my mind much more musical...full arrangement cleaner mix and more effective use of harmony..... a bit more of a nod on this to my influences.... Yes, Genesis.....
Renamed because it is a new song, I will be pulling Leprechauns Of Carnlough....I thank all of you who took the time to listen to it and comment on that song.
.... and if you are listening to this.... Thankyou!

The ending ostinato - I intended this as a Steve Howe - Yours Is No Disgrace reference.... but I also agree with the the Steve Hackett comparison.... I have studied both of their playing to the nth degree
....... I am officially out of the metal & hard rock genre ..... I am back to where I feel I belong....

I concur whole heartedly!
A fine melodically correct specimen if I've ever heard one. This is t-i-g-h-t Norman. The way in which you so effortlessly and tastefully display your professionalism and level of technique is highly admirable! Your modesty is very heartfelt. I would say that your my inspiration, however, that would sound to much like "Toto" By the way, "On The Line" is my favorite Toto song. Kudos yet again my string bending friend! Nothing to critique here man. Good to go!

;-Peace,

Alvin

you will be missed!
this is a gorgeous tune, norman. melodically resonant and all the space is filled... what are you recording in? GB? logic? i do not think i have ever seen it on your posts.... solos are very nice... and, to be honest, a little metal... just a little.... :-)

always something great!
love the acoustic. great sound there.
i also really like the contrast with the strat. the keys are also spot on.
you make playing so technical seem so effortless.
the whole piece has a smooth beauty to it. it' very easy to get wrapped into it and forget everything else.
as always, your music is inspiring, thoughtful and a joy to put to my ears!
cheers my friend

Very positive feel...
...and I definitely see the "progressive rock" influences. I was a huge fan of Hackett and Howe. You've managed to incorporate them into your own style very effectively.

Beautiful tune, Norman. Kudos...

smooth
Excellent arrangement. really is a whole new song.

I hear the nods to Hackett. I saw genesis with hackett on his last year with them. And of course howe with yes a number of times. So i guess we're getting 3 guitarists for the price of one

Nice vehicle
...to display those great chops of yours, especially doing those irish tin whistles licks on your guitar. You can see those Leprechauns dancing up a storm and getting smashed on some good brew.
Only constructive criticism I have is more of a suggestion, and that would be to re-introduce those sounds of your intro to wrap it up for continuity sake.

Love your playing.

Wow
Exceptional tune, Norman--I love the playing and the chord changes and the keys in the back. Really amazing work!

By the way, "Yours Is No Disgrace" is one of my all time favorite songs.

whatever
genre you do, I think it sounds great. I agree with your Howe/Hackett comparison. Its the 'sound' of the guitar as much as anything. Really stellar mix, that highlights your exceptional playing.

bravo
Norman, loved the soaring guitars. Big props on the backing trax as well. The light percussion gave it a very fluid vibe
