Description:
One more from my retro collection of love songs.
Lyrics:
If only you were here with me, my love,
I know I'd find a way to make you glad.
I'd chase away the rain;
I'd chase away the pain you once had.
If I could only see you for a time
I kn ow then you would see our lives could rhyme.
I'd say a word or two
And make it clear to you:
Please be mine.
Suddenly I know
Just exactly what I've needed so long:
Just someone to care for me;
Someone to make me free;
Just someone very special to love.
If I could see you for a little while
I know I'd make you glad;
I'd make you smile.
Imagine what we'd do
If I were there with you for a time.
If I could hold you in my arms to night,
You'd see how everything would be all right.
I'd hold you close to me
And then you'd surely see
How it would be.
Suddenly I know
Just exactly what I've needed so long:
Just someone to care for me;
Someone to make me free;
Just someone very special to love...
A whole life through.

Someone To Love &mdash 09/21/07 - 07:04:17 PM
the air of classics and the mood of the true
passionate sentimental music , its just awesome
signature of yours Paul . you used dulcimer
sound behind you ? .. sweet singing just filled
the song with its soothing orchestration ..
just perfect work ..! [ Reply to This ]
Your love songs &mdash 09/22/07 - 08:50:55 AM
have a wonderful and distinct atmosphere of the live stage, or musicals of old. What comes mostly to mind is Leonard Bernstein's love songs in "West Side Story" and others.
God bless,

you are such a softy! &mdash 09/22/07 - 09:55:15 AM
I love your songs. Always have and always will. My take on you is that you are a hopeless romantic with a huge,huge heart. I may be wrong but I doubt it! :) Your wife is very lucky that you love her the way you do, and I would bet the feelings are very mutual. I feel lucky as well to receive the gift of enjoying your beautiful creations! Thanks Paul. Your talents are wonderful...You are just grrrreat!

This song is more sentimental than I usually listen to, but your singing and composition is so good I can't help but like it.
Thanks

The touch of the Master here. Every little nuance in the backing musical harmonies and textures has been lovingly put into place and it shows. You sang it so well too... and it sounds as though it belongs in a Stage Musical of some kind. Lovely work as always, regards M [ Reply to This ]

There's that Newley thing again... &mdash 09/25/07 - 08:58:50 PM
The song stands on its own, but it also has the feeling of backstory and poststory that pieces from musical theater have. You can imagine where this song occurs in the musical...or the life, for that matter...
One of the things that I like about your lyric writing is that, while it has enough grand manner to fit into an imagined Broadway script, the lyrics are written in plain English...nothing fey, twitchy or contrived in the words and sentences you write...
And sure, your approach to songwriting is sentimental, but it's high quality sentimental, and it has a recognizable Paul Page 'voice'... Taken together, your songs have a 'sound', and seem like a body of work, not just stand-along 'happy accidents'...

very pretty &mdash 09/28/07 - 12:35:05 PM
I really like this. Great sense of expression in not only music but voice as well. Keep it up.
