Description:
This was put together using Beathive and Apple loops, in particular the BeatHive Desert flute loop. It was not my intent to be true to any one style in this piece as I had feelings of the near and far east when I put it together. Rather, the flow moves where it needs to as each element of the piece is introduced.

I suspect this submission is too late for the contest however it was fun to do nevertheless.

Nice to hear from you &mdash 09/22/07 - 03:20:10 PM
HI Michael,
Thanks for listening and your very kind remarks. This one started out at a bit of a loss as to what to do with the desert flute but after a slow start it took on its own life and sorted itself out. Thanks again!

beat that is enhanced by the way you've worked all the other textures. Love it. Would make a great 'Belly Dance" wouldn't it ?, cheers M

Yes, a gumbo &mdash 09/23/07 - 08:17:27 PM
is a great description. I can start with a style in mind but it often wants to find a new way to develop. I have heard that writers have characters who take on their own life and don't behave according to the original plan. So it is with this piece. I was thinking of starting off with a native american flute feel, then it went to the far east, and then the near east, and dang if some electronic beat didn't creep in as well..... Glad you liked it and thanks for your comments. Take care, Doug

Thanks Len &mdash 09/24/07 - 11:07:17 AM
for your remarks. I noticed you so tastefully included the desert flute loop into your own work with a very different overall feel. The infinite variety of creativity....
Cheers,
Doug

It's never too late to LIOLI &mdash 12/23/07 - 08:59:25 AM
I just wish I had heard this earlier. What a great piece of music - I love the low steel pans in under the flute refrain.

Hi Bud &mdash 12/28/07 - 02:23:00 PM
Thanks for your kind comments and for adding this tune to your list in the forum. I don't know where the inspiration for the low steel pans came from, since they are kind of an odd addition to the instrumentation. I thought they worked though.

All the best,
Doug

This is all loops? &mdash 02/10/08 - 01:02:36 AM
Amazing, I can hardly believe it. It holds up beautifully, so you're loop selection and arrangement skills must be awesome. I can't stop dancing. I'm liking lots of your music - glad I found you!

Dancing inspired by music is magical &mdash 02/10/08 - 04:55:18 PM
I'm so glad you liked this piece - it was done for a contest here on MacJams and there was a particular loop we had to use in creating the composition (the Native American flute), which I found a little challenging to match with the other loops I had, but in the end it seems to have worked out.

Thanks for stopping by with your supportive comments!

Keep well,
Doug

to give an honest assessment on anything Middle Eastern because I love everything in that genre! All I can say is I LOVE what I hear!!!
