cool &mdash 09/22/07 - 09:22:57 PM
but sounds a little heavy for trance. like all the variations. first part a little like what the guy who intros logic does. second variation after dead pause dynamik. good. need to take down the pitch and roll with rythym a little more. strongest point is rythym integration. think you should empasize that more. wonder how automatic this package is? will have to get it to try out. loses some interest near the end. need more repetition and dogged determination. like it won't let go. why don't you collab with a voice? get caroline to collab. sometimes it not how a piece is constructed but how it sets off a performance. integration is a mover sometimes. Thanks so much for the feedback. &mdash 09/22/07 - 10:38:18 PM
I appreciate you having a listen and taking the time to comment. As I rework this one I'll come back to your post for the next list of refinements.
Keep well,

perhaps electropop? &mdash 09/22/07 - 09:44:55 PM
would be a better genre for this track.
Trance usually has a very driving beat, strong repetetive bass, and an intense melody - written in a minor key, but pulled off oddly, you don't notice it's minor so much but it creates a state of tension that is just longing to be released. I have a lot of trouble making that work.
Fadeout works alright for this one. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks for listening! &mdash 09/22/07 - 10:57:22 PM
You're probably right. I'll change the genre.... BTW, love your work! Take care, Doug [ Reply to This ]
Great... but.. &mdash 09/22/07 - 10:52:28 PM
its not trance. I have to admit it, this very very catchy at parts, but unfortunately its not really trance. But as far as suggestions go, if you want a more of trancey song, you need some sort of pulsation. I would move this to electropop actually. You'll get a much better response and critique of it there. But don't give up with the trance thing if you're into trance. Remix Tools offers you some good tools to work with in the trance/dance genre, chiefly the almost propellerhead reason-quality drum kits. Keep at it. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks for the encouragement &mdash 09/22/07 - 11:04:56 PM
I decided to put this into a new genre and work up improvements within it's current structure. I think I will have another go at a trance piece from scratch, which should be fun! Thanks for listening and providing the feedback! Keep well, Doug [ Reply to This ]
Jeez &mdash 09/22/07 - 11:39:44 PM
I really loved this tune; powerful dance drive, I thought. I love the richness in sounds; sonically clean, nice stage separation. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks! &mdash 09/23/07 - 11:02:25 AM
After listening to your post of Safety Dog that is quite a compliment! Thanks for your feedback.
Take care,

A great mix.... &mdash 09/23/07 - 02:18:31 AM
I enjoyed this mix very much.
There were plenty of things happening to make it interesting throughout.
The silences between sections were very effective.
All in all it worked very well.

Thanks Paul, appreciate the feedback! This posting experience and receiving comments from yourself and others here whose music I admire has been great at getting my half finished work dusted off, brought back into the sunlight, and reworked. Cheers,

I like &mdash 09/23/07 - 06:08:30 AM
this and I'm not suprised you get confused with genres, so do I,especially with Trance/ Electro/ house etc. Seems to me a very fine line. I recognised some of the loops you used as the ones I too used in 'Downtown 10 a.m.' and it's suprising the different effects with same loops can give. cheers M

Agreed.... &mdash 09/23/07 - 11:18:14 AM
Although I like a variety of these genres, I haven't paid a lot of attention to what each one was called. One one hand labels can never capture the essence of something, but on the other without labels we would all have to spend a lot of time experiencing the same things - not too productive!
After checking out your page, I did notice the similarity of loop selections to 'Downtown', which is part of my iTunes at the moment. I appreciate the feedback!! Keep well,

Really &mdash 09/24/07 - 01:04:44 AM
like this Doug. I thought it stood out from the crowd. The production is excellent especially the phasing/panning effects.

Lots of familiar loops in this piece, nicely put together reminds me of my very first GB piece where I used a lot of the same loops, perhaps I'll upload it just for the heck of it (or not LOL) [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Dave &mdash 02/12/08 - 02:29:15 PM
This feels like ancient history now.... Trying out the loops, hearing what sounds there are available, stringing them together....Fun at the time.
I'd love to hear you piece - if you upload it send me a message.
Cheers,

Gee, I love anything in trance too &mdash 04/18/08 - 01:19:51 AM
But to be honest I'm shying away from loops now and try not to use them for originality sake - at least the older ones. Other than that this is a cool piece. [ Reply to This ]
