Description:
This is a remodelled version of a previous posting.
I redid a few things and cleaned it up a little. The vocals are a little rough, but what else is new?
Lyrics:
The waiting for this mystery to unfold is both tedious and stale. It had disguised itself once more, in hopes that I wouldn't be prepared.
When I have nothing to say she listens anyway.
and if I have nowhere to go she promises to stay.
So stagnant now are the questions whose answers were begging to be told, so I reinvent the lessons to better suit what I know.
If I have nothing to say she listens anyway, and if I have nowhere to go she promises to stay.
Wasn't that what we had? Wasn't that when we cracked?
When I don't know what to say she listens anyway, and if I have nowhere to go she promises to stay. If I can't afford to pay she gives herself away, and when I start to fade away she promises to pray.

nice track &mdash 09/30/07 - 12:20:25 AM
i love your guitar sound. this is a really unusual song, almost like the police meet Tool. great chorus, very cool. i was just thinking of you this morning; when are we going to hear from you and the whole band again? [ Reply to This ]
Thanks &mdash 09/30/07 - 12:28:38 AM
Glad you dig it. The Police eh? I always forget to list those guys as an influence, but I like them quite a bit. It's actually the only time I've ever really cared for Sting. haha.
We were tentatively scheduled to do some recording today, but I had to help some friends move to Toronto. Next weekend is thanksgiving here (it's cold already. all the leaves are turning.) So the weekend after that. That seems really far away. haha. I'd down for doing it tomorrow, but it probably won't happen.
We did, however, play our first unofficial gig last weekend at a party, for a crowd of about twenty people, including the other band, but it went very well. We've been stretching a lot of songs around the ten minute mark. Lots of feedback and such. Lots of fun. Whenever we do get around to laying some of it down I think we'll be pretty tight. My voice is getting stronger every practice, which is a relief. I thought for a while there that I might be getting old.
Thanks for stopping by man.

smooth intro &mdash 09/30/07 - 06:03:13 AM
i liked it, but the intro might be a little long.really moody. i can see alot of tool influence in it. great soloing. it is like you poured every drop you had into your solos. final mix? if so, very polished. i got a gary moore vibe.... [ Reply to This ]
Final mix? &mdash 09/30/07 - 09:23:15 AM
I doubt it. I am truly never satisfied, and this is not even close to an exception.
I'm not exactly sure where you're finding the gary moore vibe, I don't hear it myself, but I certainly take it as a compliment.
Thanks for all the thought you put into listening to this. That alone means something to me.
As for the intro, I know wxactly what you mean, but that sense of it being too long is intended. It's easy with this song to forget that you're even listening to anything, and then you get dropped into the middle of all the chaos it has to offer. If I made a video for this I would have to sound drop back slowly, so you have to keep turning it up, and then it would all come back in at once, at the loudest part, and people everywhere would be deafened. It would be fantastic, and there would be much rejoicing.

I'm late &mdash 10/05/07 - 11:27:36 PM
Apologies. I listened to this when you first posted and started to comment, but got distracted, and.......
Anyway, I'm a fan of the build up at the beginning, especially that little "ahahAHahAH ah" vocal. Prog Rock is the right genre (VERY important to pick the right genre when posting), late-Floyd chord changes, with early-Floyd production values (the best of both worlds?).
The vocals aren't so much "rough" as "buried": go ahead, push the mic volume slider up a bit. You have a singular voice; celebrate it. [ Reply to This ]

floyds, floyds everywhere &mdash 10/06/07 - 01:17:22 PM
I've always received the floyd comparisons; that and tool. I down with it. That's about as good as music gets, as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, thanks man. Everyone's telling me to turn the mic up. One day I will, I promise.

WOHHHHAAA ..... &mdash 10/06/07 - 01:56:45 AM
What a great tune is this ? the guitar sound really killer and in a very great quality. the solos between the playing are just perfect. maybe with new mix your vocal can sound better because it's great !! Great Post !

thank you &mdash 10/06/07 - 01:23:53 PM
I appreciate your continuing kindness and support.
This is one of those songs that's been around for a few years, and has been recorded three or four times, but never seemed to live up to itself. When I sat down earlier this year to take another swing at it I think I finally captured the core of the thing. I'm still not satisfied, of course, but I'm comfortable with it. I'm gonna redo the vocals one more time, and then leave it alone.
