Description:
When Bryn put up his track "Like Worshipped Chicago Dogs," I promptly sent him a group of vox tracks.

From these, he created the following (and what I consider amazing) spectrum of sound, utilizing these contributors:

Instrumental, Ambience and final mix: Bibanova
Chant vox, pulse vox: Mystified
Spoken vox: Ione Mueller
End vocals: Etgilles

Thanks, B, for all the hard work you put into this track in revising/remixing it!

From Bryn:
This song is part of an ongoing, evolutionary process. Please take a listen to:
SISCOM GURU

EVP Series #2

Time Slowed and Gradually Came to a Stop

Like Worshipped Chicago Dogs is the track that the vocals were built upon specifically.

Lyrics:
Psuedo Techno-Latin phrasing:

Futuro quantum ex spiritus elementuum
libris e in exulte anno quantum elementuum

Spooky but Cool &mdash 10/01/07 - 09:35:29 AM
This is a cool track...great blending of sounds...very moody. The only thing to me is that the guitar-string finger noises in the last 40 seconds or so are a little to up front. I like the idea that you've got this acoustic thing happening, but it just stands out a little too much to me. Then again, my speakers aren't so hot, so maybe it's just the way the mix comes through on my system. Anyway, very nice!

Thanks Bubowski &mdash 10/01/07 - 11:29:13 AM
Its weird - some people just love those acoustic guitar string/finger noises...but I do take your point. Do you have any tips on how to control those erroneous noises (without re-recording the guitar part or affecting the tonal quality of the recorded guitar)

Thanks for stopping by.

Controlling Finger Noises &mdash 10/01/07 - 02:51:32 PM
Grease your fingers baby! Seriously...you might be ably to do it with automation (just bringing down the volume on thos bits so they blend a little better), but probably the best way would be to uses some sort of limiting or equalization on the guitar track.

Not sure if you are using GB or Logic...if you have that new EQ in GB4 (haven't used it myself), you could try to roll off the highest frequencies where the squeaks live. In logic you could throw a limiter or EQ on there and automate the strength of the effect on the track when those bits hit...it's a little more elegant than just automating the volume of the track, so it should make the overall sound of the track more consistent.

I dunno though, you are definitely better than I when it comes to mixing, so take my suggestions with a grain (or more) of salt.

Haven't got time for garageband personally...it's too hard to learn!!!

Also, I think you may find if you listen to it on better speakers (not knowing what you have of course) you will probably find its not actually too bad. However, smaller computer speakers do seem to emphasise certain less desirable frequencies...

You hit the nail right on the head Michael. A labour of love.

The track has taken on a life of its own and continues to regenerate and mutate from time to time

Its quite a fascinating journey....

OMG &mdash 10/01/07 - 06:09:24 PM
This is very well done. It is art for the ears. The music is climactic and the voices give it a "mystified" edge to it. Im speechless.

wow.

What a delightful dark plodding piece of myst. The only thing that caught me off-guard was the initial bass note that comes in quite loudly... not sure if you wanted to startle me, or should have a little lead in... wait, this is Biba Nova and Myst, you knew what you were doing! Great mixing and arranging job here, does feel like piece of a bigger picture.

Love the slow build-up and blend of your voice with the anlog synth and percussion. Flawlessly mixed. All the details are featured at the right time and the climax is musically satisfying. I'm really amazed at the musical and technical talent involved hear. Parts of this remind me of "For Whom The Bell Tolls' (if you are not familiar with that song - take a listen - I'm sure you'll be intrigued).
Outstanding track full of creative energy and subtlety.

This is a fantastic title! It just begged me to listen to it.... I've always been attracted to titles that conjure up a strong image, a noir image...
I'm not sure I thought of what it was going to sound like, but I definitely saw it.
