Cool! &mdash 10/02/07 - 12:58:17 PM
Wow, an oud and a cumbus saz recording posted on the same day on macjams...what are the chances?

Nice tune, I'm digging the accompaniment too. Keep it up!

learning to play? &mdash 10/11/07 - 10:01:01 AM
I don't know, this sounds rather accomplished... really nice little runs and bends and twists... a bit of Turkish Delight and I'm relaxing on the pillows watching the show. Well performed and recorded, appropriate orchestration. The mix makes the Oud sound very slightly "boomy" (maybe back off the midrange slightly), but overall, a very nice track! Faved.

Drakonis

Thanks &mdash 10/12/07 - 01:37:19 PM
Thank you for the kind words. The oud is a very beautiful instrument; I thought I'd be able to learn it by transposing some of what I know about guitar to it. But it's pretty different, though I am getting some basics down. Perhaps you know this already, but if you want to see a true master on the oud, check out Farid Al Atrache videos on YouTube or elsewhewre.

Great Job &mdash 10/12/07 - 06:57:06 PM
Man this sounds great particularly towards the end. Oud is my favorite instrument; I just love its deep and sad sound. I tried to use the Turkish Oud software instruments that came with the World jam pack in one of my compositions (Illusion). The software instrument sounds great but does not come close the real instrument. Anyways you are a fast learner, mastering the oud is not easy. I may bug you later to work on couple tracks with me.
Cheers,
RS
