Thanks Birdman &mdash 10/05/07 - 06:26:09 PM
Actually, the whole song is one I did completely in midi. There are no live instruments on it, just midi instruments brought over to GB and assigned a software instrument in GB. Even so, I do think the guitar part came out pretty well, as did the organ part.

I'm glad you liked this song Birdman and I appreciate you taking the time to let me know it. Thanks again

Groovin' &mdash 10/07/07 - 08:34:58 AM
... this is great piece of music. I feel like I'm sitting in a roadhouse watching a small band jam away well before the real show gets started. They sound like they're having a lot of fun, grinning at each other while the few people in the near-empty roadhouse tap the tops of their beer bottles in time with the groove.

The Big Electric Lead in GB can really sound great - within a certain range. It gets squirrelly if the notes get too high and loses its edge if they go too low, but in that 'sweet spot' it works really well. And you're workin' it just right here.

I'm kind of a sucker for organ-and-guitar rock... and this hits a home run. Thanks for letting me come in before opening and check out the band, Ed. A round for everyone!

Thanks Rik &mdash 10/07/07 - 09:59:00 PM
Hey, it's happy hour man, and the barkeep just decided to buy the few customers in the joint a round on the house to keep them around till the band cranks up for real.

I like some of the sounds in GB and this organ-guitar worked really good together. But as good as it is, it really needs a lead picker with a real guitar that can make this thing go over the top, if you know what I mean. Unfortunately, that ain't me. Maybe once upon a time, but not any more.

But regardless, I had a blast programming this and polishing it up to it's current state. I'm glad you liked it, and I just love the picture you painted of a band warming up with a little jam session.

Thanks again for the listen and kind words Rik.

Glad I stopped by &mdash 10/08/07 - 10:50:18 AM
to enjoy this fine bit of roadhouse blues. Nice job with the midi world. Were you playing a controller or editing loops? The whole piece hangs together well.

No loops &mdash 10/08/07 - 11:43:50 AM
This is all me playing the parts on a Yamaha SY99 into midi tracks. I've had this one for a long time, and when I started using GB I thought I'd see how it sounded using the software instruments in GB. Besides, it gave me a chance to work in GB a little more, to help learn my way around it.

I Like it as it sounds with the GB voices, but when I play in using my sound modules (the SY99 and an Edirol SC-88vl it sounds even better. I'll have to do and audio recording of those voices and post it that way one of these days so you can hear the difference.

Thanks for listening to it Bud, and for the kind words.

Nice! &mdash 10/09/07 - 02:18:40 AM
Hey Ed, I'm sorry I never checked out your stuff before man. So many people and so much to listen to at this place! But I'm glad i finally did. This is a nice jam. I wish you had used an electric guitar for the leads, but I am impressed with your keyboard substitutions! And the tones on your organ are phat. I'll have to get to checking out your other stuff now...

Be well!

Thanks Michael &mdash 10/09/07 - 04:12:01 PM
Glad you liked this one, and let me know. With a few exceptions, you'll find most of my other songs are more traditional country songs, but some of them rock on a little. On my artists page I listed what I consider the better songs of the bunch. But then again, that's my taste. If you're into rock or up tempo stuff more than slow country ballads you might listen to The Werewolf, Into the Shadows, Back From The Past, Reach Out And Touch Her, or It's Just A Little Lapse Of Memory.

Again, thanks for stopping by for a listen, and for the kind words Michael. I really appreciate it.

Ed
