Description:
Elgar, eat your heart out.For those of you who don't know of Edward Elgar, he was a composer who made a bunch (13, I believe) of variations on one musical theme, one for each of his friends and acquaintances, his wife, and himself. Fast forward to 2005, when a young man in Toronto begins composing the song that would take over his life... Yes, with all the variants of Shift I've come up with so far, I am making my own version of the Enigma variations. I'm not even really changing the title much: I'm calling it the Enigmachina variations. So far, two of the tracks are done. This is the first. Unlike Elgar, I'm not bothering to keep the variants' inspirations a secret, at least from the people themselves. However, I'm not going to put their names here. How to describe this one... This person is fundamentally different from everyone else I have composed a Shift for, and so this Shift is fundamentally different, down to the melody being changed more from the original than any other version. However, there is no doubt that this is a Shift, despite all that. In fact, it's my favorite Shift of the Enigmachina Variations, possibly my favorite Shift bar none, for reasons that are entirely my own. Enjoy. Edit: I changed the subtitle. This subtitle suits the subject of this song better than the old one. Hardware:
