Just in my own world today! Selfish!

Lyrics:
Let me sleep
Don't want to save the world today
Let me sleep
Don't you know I need the rest!
Let me sleep
Don't want to help my friends today
Let me sleep
Don't you know I need the rest!
Let me sleep
Don't want to make things right today
Let me sleep
Don't you know I need the rest!
For the rest of my life, I need rest...

This is wacked! &mdash 10/06/07 - 07:17:54 PM
So, where are you going with this? I like it! I guess you are in your own little world today Doug (};-P) I dig the chord progression and the "out there" vibe it conveys, at least it does to me anyway! Solid production and a firm bed. A lot of possibilities here my friend.

Going?! &mdash 10/06/07 - 08:56:02 PM
Geeze, I forgot to go somewhere!
Seriously, thanks for the visit, Al. I came up with the idea of the lyrics a few weeks ago. The twisted chords came last night, just in time for a five hour free slot in my schedule, today. A roll of the dice and there ya have it!
Thanks Man,
Doug

The pieces of the puzzle... &mdash 10/06/07 - 10:14:17 PM
...are almost in place. Some are missing... but I'm sure you'll find them. A good start. There are a few things I'd like you to consider.
Center the vocals... they appear to be slightly to the left. Until the guitar solo, they are the main feature.
You have a reccuring chorus, or refrain, in there which I feel should have lyrics sung over them. Perhaps harmonies. The drums need some adjusting and dynamics in a few places.
The guitars could pan L-&-R, doubled and offset to achieve a wrapping effect (except for the lead solo). This would free up the center soundfield to embrace the vocals.
Worry about the production after the elements are all in the right places.
Peace,
Alimar
At above average, I feel you can improve this with a little tenacity.

Cool &mdash 10/06/07 - 10:23:42 PM
Al! I thought about some harmonies during the transitive parts, too. I might try without words, first. Maybe some sort of chant.
Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the listen! Wow, that's a new one. It's nice getting comparisons to different artists. Sometimes I will composite all of these artist references and come up with a "Super Jammer" profile!

Pretty nice Doug.... &mdash 10/07/07 - 12:09:12 AM
Interesting vocal experiment indeed. Sounds Lennon-ish in spots dontcha know...
I agree with Alvin. "This is wacked." But in a very cool and artsy way. Although there are any number of things one could do to spice up a piece like this, I frankly like the minamalist approach you've adopted here. I only wish your tasty electric leads were a tad more to the fore...
Be well bro! [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Mike! &mdash 10/07/07 - 02:25:30 PM
Glad for the visit! I think I will work on this one, per Alimar. It does seem a bit all mushed together.
Thanks for the guitar vote, my friend!

Nice to see you again! I just can't get away from this jazzy stuff. Maybe it's a lack of creativity?! Who knows.
Thanks bud!

Yawning &mdash 10/08/07 - 07:36:14 AM
You have an interesting song brewing here. The vocals bring to mind a character who does not want to get out of bed :) I detect some stretching and yawning throughout. Maybe if you do a chorus, they should be other voices, nagging the sleeper to wake! Fun tune.
Thanks

Yeah! I keep going back and forth: Life is short, I don't need to rest; and Life is short, get some rest.
Thanks for the visit!

Zzzzzzzzz - in a positive style. &mdash 10/18/07 - 07:24:55 AM
Mmmm digging your sleepy delivery, you really cannot be arsed huh?
And yet you stay in key which is a testament to your innate sense of calm.
Nice wee melody Dougie. For some reason I hear Chris Montez on a heavy valium trip and that virtually guarantees a potential number 8 in the Fiji hot 100. Avoir de la chance. [ Reply to This ]

Glad you liked the calm. Who knows where the melody came from. Funny Montez comment! Although I don't remember listening to much of his stuff. Valium! Ha ha ha...yes...

Thanks for the visit Mr. Foil &mdash 12/07/07 - 02:32:18 PM
I'm more of a fly on the wall. No one pays much attention to me, unless I'm buzzing around!
But a certain amount of anonymity is good. It keeps me out of trouble... usually.
Thanks for the vote for originality! It's fun trying to produce things that just come to mind (not trying to fit it in with anything, but sometimes I just can't help it!)
Peace,
