Description
Since the posting of the original version of this, Bryn took into consideration comments made and some new ideas, and mixed two additional versions.
This one is much like the original, with an altered intro, adjusted levels and instrumental track tweaks.
The other alternate version:
http://www.macjams.com/song/35941
uses the idea of subtraction.
Thanks, B, for these additional mixes. I enjoy exploring different takes of the same song, and these additional mixes are very cool :)
Instrumental: michael2
Vocals/Lyrics: Mystified
Backing vocals/ambience/final mix: biba_nova (particledots)
SongArt - Simon and Rachel (4yrs old)

Lyrics
Far away,
Looking to ruin
Not much to say;
It's so all incongruent
There was a time...
It wasn't long ago
It wasn't far behind
We travelled side by side
And reached the highest heights
Until that day...
Not much to the summer--
Long days, they all seemed in vain;
Not much to the winter--
Cold winds and the pouring rain.
There was a time....
It wasn't so long ago
We climbed to the top of a mountain
You told me your heart was mine
In the shadow of Mt St Helens
'Don't believe in superstition,
I don't believe in fate.
I'm more wary of blind ambition
And the walls it creates.
It was a choice...
That took you far away
That left me far behind
And nothing that I could say
Would change your mind
It wasn't that long ago
We climbed to the top of a mountain
You told me your love was mine
In the shadow of Mt St Helens
Your foolish prophecies
Leave only despair for the masses
And all your green, green fields
Are grey'd and singed by the ashes.
It wasn't long ago
It wasn't far behind
We travelled side by side
And reached the highest heights
Far away
Looking to ruin...
It wasn't that long ago
We climbed to the tops of the mountains
You told me your love was mine
In the shadow of Mt St Helens
Your foolish prophecies
Leave only despair for the masses
And all of your green, green fields
Are grey'd and singed by the ashes

and collab folks. This has a powerful mix of haunting lyrics, the almost wistful quality of the vocals and a solid instrumental track. It all blends to put the listener into a state which I find hard to describe in words, but is deeply emotional and yearns to hear the song again almost as if to make up for some loss. Thanks so much for sharing!
Keep well,
Doug
