Description:
I heard a few takes on Michael2's "Unfinished" (Biba_Nova and Mystified / Morning Light) ... and thought I would try my own interpretion of his beautiful background music. There are a few timing issues here ... I tried to clip a piece out of a vocal track and no matter WHAT I did ... it either nudged slightly ahead of the music ... or slightly behind the music ... I opted to leave it in the slightly just ahead of the music spot ... (please forgive me) it drove me nuts ... very hard to nudge something one NTH of a N to the left or right .... (As per my usual posting style I decided to leave the vocal flaws in there too due to a current bout of Bronchitis .. just didn't wanna sing it over) Michael's original tune can be found here: http://www.macjams.com/song/35423

Interior design. Why say you care %u2013 then act so cold - cos it's a game that's why. I'd put the vocal slightly further back in the mix if this was my tune but a good wee listen just the same. Be calm.

... put it further back myself ... but I am still learning the finer points of mixing .. and I find that what I lear in the MIX comes out somewhat different in the MP3 MIXDOWN for some reason ... vocal track either comes out too loud or too quiet ... but it's always different ... hmmmmm thanks for the listen and comment.

... it HAS been a while since I recorded anything ... now that Winter is on it's way ... I suspect there will be a lot more chilly evenings where my computer will be my best friend again .... hope to get some new tunes up and running again real soon.

... downloaded this when Michael first put it up .... and sort of tinkered in my head with it ... and then got all busy and forgot about it ... then after hearing the other versions ... I questioned whether I wouldn't be hearing other melodies in my head .... I'm not even sure anymore if what I ended up recording is even remotely like what I originally came up with .... heh heh

... I've made it no secret that I am a huge fan of the multiple versions of people's songs ... shows us all just how diverse and personal music is. I knew I liked this tune the moment I heard it ... and knew it was only a matter of time until I had my own little "tinker" on it.

slow and mournful, very nice "Alannah"-touch to this. Good lyrics, and really nice emotion in your singing... I liked your soft harmonies in the background too... and you are getting really crisp-sounding with your recordings! Maybe it is because of your languid singing style, but I didn't notice it being "off" from the music. Melody fit nicely. Ah, I got my Alannah-fix again, thanks! :-)

Wonderful writing, Alannah! Great vocal work you did on this! You make me wanna work up a healthy bout of bronchitis and give a go at singing! Okay, so maybe that's not a good idea, but whatever, things worked out well for you hear.

Nice backing track, too! I haven't heard the original but it does sound like this track was meant for you.

- glad to see you are still listening to my stuff .. however, I should clarify ... that the original music was Michael2's .... but that Biba_Nova and Mystified also did a tune using the same backing track (posted on Mystified and Biba's pages - called Mount St. Helens). (I'm still trying to figure out who Buddy Earl is and where he fits into all this though) .....

Fantastic take Alannah. Brave, bold vocals.

... if you like my take on it .. you should listen to what Biba_Nova has just concocted ... he blended his and Mysified's version .. with my version ... with Michael2's vocal version .. and WOW what a treat ... I won't put the link here because I understand he only put up a draft for the weekend but I sent him my vocal tracks as he is gonna work up a cleaner mix .... but man oh man .... there is a treat for the ears !

.. enjoyed this one .. you should check out the magic mixes that Biba_Nova created using this version, Mysified and Biba_Nova and Michael2's versions all mingled together .. I think he posted two or three different versions of his mix on his page under Mt. St. Helens titles.

.... if you liked this version you should check out some of the other versions posted on Mystified, Biba_Nova and Michael2 pages ..... there may be more - but this original tune of Michael2 was very popular indeed.
