Description:
...excuse my French.

Lyrics:
Revolution...

Il n'y a rien qui bouge
Il faut partir maintenant
Si tu m'aime encore
Il faut pas le dire maintenant
On a fait ce qu'il faut
C'était pas assez
Il n'y a rien qui reste
Tu m'as tout donné

Quand tu prends ta chance
A revivre ta vie
Tout ce que je t'ai offert
Il faut que tu l'oublie
Je retourne au point
Ou j'étais avant
Juste une illusion?
Je t'aimais pourtant

Revolution...

La distance sépare
Et le temps tempère
La raison est roi
C'est l'amour qui pert
On a tout vécu
Sauf la décision
J'ai si peur de vivre
en révolution

Revolution...

English translation:

There is nothing moving
You have to go now
If you still love me
Don't say it now
We've done what we could
It was not enough
There's nothing left
You've given me everything

When you take the chance
To relive tour life
You have to forget
All that I offered you
I will return to the point
Where I was before
Just an illusion?
I loved you truly

The distance separates
And the time heals
Reason is king
And love is the loser
We've survived everything
Except this decision
I'm so afraid
To live in a state of revolution.

Tredding new paths! &mdash 10/19/07 - 03:42:03 PM
My disposition is this, I have decided to stop making tunes. Emotional circles are getting smaller and my energy levels are depleting. Re-energizing and attaining more musical skills (wanna make a couple of real solo and collab albums). That being said, I start listening to this. An 808 drumcomputer, a breakbeat, turntabilism skills and French (I love (the) French!). The build-up is sweet, very professional. The strings are a bit thin, but can carry the weight put on them. The guitar melody and harmonies are Moorlandt, disconcerting or perhaps even creepy. I like creepy. Makes you mysterious. I think the lyrics are very now. Has it got any bearing on what is happening in Belgium? Times did change... This song is more accessible than your usual Moorlandt track. I think it is because of the percussion and arpeggio-like melodies. It does make it less special to me (but that is a good thing i guess, since i am too weird). I think this could and should be accompanied by a video-clip. All in all, a GOOD and SOLID pop tune. Very refreshing.

love,
Jb

You are dead on again. As usual:-) I 'forgot' to put some more explanation in the song description. Perhaps you know that I'm quite active on a site called 'Sellaband' the last couple of months, and now there's a competition running to remix a certain song called 'Revolution' by the Portuguese band Nearfield. In fact I stripped the song completely but used quite some melodic elements of it in here. Also, the 'Revolution' is more a soul thing. Such a shame you don't speak French;-) No, it has nothing to do with Belgian politics...

And yes, this is slightly more mainstream than my usual stuff. Well, I'm thinking CD-wise, and I want my second album to be a bit more accessible for a larger audience. Don't know if that's a good thing...

hmmm &mdash 10/20/07 - 06:23:38 PM
moeilijke trade-off.

And I'm very happy to hear you singing in this language, so no excuse from me but all my congratulations !

And as usual, one more time a beautiful sound and a great production.

You've done it again - love the vocal and the backing - the scratchy start and end were not my favourites, but they worked as part of the whole.

This would have to be a top 10 in France :)

You must be one of the most consistent MJers around.

Thanks for the wonderful songs - must get over to SellaBand when I get some time.

neil &mdash 10/21/07 - 10:35:47 AM
Yeah... I used as many elements as possible from the original track. And there was the 'telephone' vocals of Lina Ron. I've put the vinyl scratch sound underneath it to somehow "put it between brackets", because the song's not about Lina Ron at all...
Sure , you must try Sellaband. Your music is very good and distinctive and you're a great communicator. And such a nice guy as well ;-) If you can make it there, you can make it everywhere (as a matter of speaking!)

Thanks so much again, Neil,

I find myself confused about what comes from the original, so it's hard to comment on the backing track, but the voice is 100% you, so I can tell you that Moorlandt speaking French should be bottled and sold as an aphrodisiac around the world.

Another wonderful song, Walter.

...not knowing any French, I like the motif of returning: the scratching of a record player, what I think is a theme of wanting to return to a lover in the lyrics, and then the term "revolution" itself. Leave it to you to make such a complete and detail oriented piece. Very enjoyable! I just wish i could read French!

Well, that's my reaction after some thought. But my instant reaction was: WOW! I remember speaking to you about how your accent when you speak English is too spectacular and alluring to want to improve upon. Now I see that you sound beautiful in any language you speak.

[ Reply to This ]
estella &mdash 10/26/07 - 12:21:27 PM
I gave up working on my accent:-) You convinced me it's part of my music. Meanwhile I posted a quick translation of the lyrics, just to give you an idea what it's about. I have to say... it sounds a bit stupid in English. I guess every language has its own palette of expressing emotions, and I'm kind of happy I had the courage to skip English for once.

Thanks so much again Estalla!

I can't understand most of the French, which I like. Your voice sounds really great, and the atmosphere you make with the voice and music is unique... like a particular movie scene, with overtones and context and intersecting storylines. Excellent work, Walter.

Beautiful.

Sorry it's taken me a while to get here ... but anyway now I'm here and this is absolutely gorgeous. With the recycled parts of someone else's track it's slightly different from your other songs but still has all your distinctive ingredients. Intimate, atmospheric and full of space so every note has room to breathe.

Great Song &mdash 11/01/07 - 12:46:03 PM
In my humble opinion, when you say Revolution in English it sounds like it doesn't fit the power of the song, and the beat you use on the chorus is too intense, a better beat, one just as powerful but more subtle but that just my OP. But the feel and your French vocals are fantastic.

sir bass &mdash 11/01/07 - 04:14:35 PM
I really appreciate your honest and constructive opinion. When you say 'chorus', do you mean the parts without singing, with the strings orchestration? When you are are familiar with my previous work, you'll notice this is a quite different genre. And I'm here to learn... So once again, thanks a bunch for speaking your mind, man!

The first beat you hear,It might be just me, i heard that on GB, may be it's because i heard it before and it sounds generic, I run in to that too, I want to make my own beats or edit them, delete a few notes may be, it can be done.
