like the background ?cello &mdash 10/21/07 - 02:10:20 PM
and strings. I would slow it down even more. more texture. you certainly have that capability. and even more simple. just slightly. the way you bring in your background I could see some effects slowly and gradually on the piano. and some pitch and panning in an easy way. Oh well, me trying to improve on what is already good.. never ending.

passion &mdash 10/21/07 - 07:19:58 PM
I couldn't help feel moved. Every thread is so tightly woven to an exceptional tapestry of sound. I think I could sign up as this being my personal soundtrack in life. exceptional

I remember &mdash 10/21/07 - 10:06:35 PM
how you stated in a post maybe 2 or so years ago how the cello was a great favorite of yours. It sure fits in with the tune. Like a movie.

Such a reflective movie ! And you are the star of it !

Way to go!

Also great picture on your front page!

What they all said! &mdash 10/22/07 - 12:36:53 PM
I really like this kind of soft, soothing music. Incredible to get a piece like this from an "evening improvisation"...! Thanks a lot for posting!

To say anything else would detract from the beauty and grace of this lovely track.
Thanks so much,

What strikes me here... &mdash 10/23/07 - 06:49:38 PM
...is that you know how long a note lasts...Which is longer than we think...You've put in plenty of space for the piano to sound, breathe, and decay towards silence again...But never reach it...

And there's something about this, combined with the visual image you've chosen, that seems in keeping with an autumn walk, a sense of things sounding and going, a luxurious sense of how much there is in a single note, and how much of that we never fully hear... And how like life that is...

This ends up functioning as an invitation to full, deep and patient listeninng, to music such as this, and to life as we live it...

Ed

An invitation to 'listen'.... &mdash 10/26/07 - 11:42:57 AM
Sometimes, in the pace and distractions of life, it is really hard to simply 'listen.'

I've found myself trying to *stop* and do just that more recently, which is a challenge! We can spend so much time in this life wandering, looking, searching...sometimes never arriving. But in the richness of a moment, and the awareness of that moment, we can find peace and joy.

I love what you've said:

"This ends up functioning as an invitation to full, deep and patient listeninng, to music such as this, and to life as we live it... "

Improvisation forces me to listen and allow that inexplicable creative force to guide me to a complete musical thought. I feel so fortunate to be able to create music in this way.

Thank you, Ed, for listening :)

A moving yet, meditative piece... &mdash 10/23/07 - 10:37:13 PM
Wow, Mysty! This is really quite wonderful! I've listened to this at least five times now, and it really takes me to a quite, comfortable place. It certainly is a musical journey, but a ride towards ease.

Really a nice offering by you. Thank you! M

evening is a good moment !
Very nice piece to listen, fine improvisation and as usual, you don't need many instruments to make beautiful music...
Bravo

"Improvisation, hah!" &mdash 10/30/07 - 09:59:57 AM
Normally that is what I would think when hearing a piece like this. But based on your previous submissions and the beautiful work you've done I believe you. More than that - I've come to expect it from you.
You have yet to disappoint me.

Beautiful.

Thanks to all for the comments :) &mdash 11/09/07 - 06:21:53 PM
Thank you so much, everyone, for your comments here on this piece.

This was one of those 'moments' in a creative life that is meant to be shared and not locked away in memory forever.

The thing about improvisation (before GarageBand, for me) was that all these musical ideas and 'background noise' were lost forever after passing through the soundtrack of my mind.

To be able to finally share my musical wanderings at last is so very fulfilling.

Thank you for listening, and for sharing your impressions here, in turn, with me :)
