Description:
This is an older, fully acoustic/analog, recording of October Bliss. I brought the song into GB to "remaster" it a bit. I submit this version because I didn't like some of the digital feeling of some parts of October Bliss. Please note that this was recorded using a standard tape deck over 10 years ago, so production is not what I'm looking to emphasize here. The original recording is extremely hissy, but GB's hipassshelffilter did wonders for that. Also, the piano is slightly out of tune, and I do not have 'Socks wizardry for miking a piano, so please focus on performance/song writing in your comments. I may record this yet again acoustically, using GB to master everything, but not until I get around to tuning my piano first. ;)

If you hated this song, you'll probably equally dislike:

Saturday Play
Felice

but you might hate these slightly less:

Brownsville Moan (Gudkarma Collab)
The Journey
Riff Raff
Farrocchia

Hardware:

You are quite good on the piano. Kudos!

glissando paradise &mdash 09/07/04 - 05:56:30 PM
Your fingers traverse the ivories in hurreid and unhurried
fashion, creating energic release and soulful repose. Did I
say that right? Great composition and execution.

dead link? &mdash 09/10/04 - 08:00:31 AM
When I "click here to play song", the words disappear and
nothing happens. Awwww.....

What's up with that, I wonder? Might want to check it out. I
look forward to hearing this soon (I hope!)

excellent piano &mdash 09/10/04 - 09:28:17 AM
I think that this "slightly out of tune" piano is actually
pleasant to listen to in this piece, and the pitch variance in
fact creates a nice atmosphere. It brings to mind sitting in
someone's parlor on a Sunday afternoon, listening their
latest composition.

It's a GOOD composition -- a nice arpeggio study, almost
sounds like a melodic etude, somewhat reminiscent of
Chopin and Lizst. The latter composer especially comes to
mind during the faster passages. You play the piano very
well, with a lot of feeling.

There's nothing like a real acoustic piano, although some
people on this site make the synthed piano sounds come
close. But nothing QUITE like the real deal.

I enjoyed this piece very much.

Not the best tuned piano. &mdash 09/10/04 - 08:16:24 PM
But the emotional content and playing surmounts this.
I enjoyed the journey!

Not the best tuned piano. &mdash 09/10/04 - 08:26:26 PM
I have to get an 88-key controller like the one you have, and then get YOU to
play the song!! LOL. Thanks so much for such a kind comment from an artist
I respect as much as you.

The slightly out of tune piano... &mdash 09/11/04 - 08:24:10 PM
I like as well. There's something vintage about it's
sound and it adds a layer of character that a tuned
piano wouldn't offer. Actually, it just hit me... sounds
a bit like the sound of a piano that would accompany
a silent movie, only a much more romantic/classical
flavor.

Well done!

Phenomenal &mdash 09/23/04 - 04:10:41 AM
Phenomenal piano skills. Made me wish I kept to lessons
for longer. The arpeggios left me wanting a little more of
a melody line in the song, but not enough that I tired of
the piece.

Nice &mdash 01/20/05 - 08:38:24 AM
There is a famous classical composer-pianist trying to
get out!
It starts to get real inspirational! You have some nice
changes in softness to.

i am glad I ran into your tune!
