Description:
I don't know why I picked this title. Perhaps it is because of the single note that appears just before the last chord. Maybe you'll know if you get that far...and maybe it will all make sense. This is a serenade or chorale for string orchestra. I hope you enjoy it.

Wonder-full &mdash 10/27/07 - 11:03:49 PM
rich and fuul of feeling. Like looking up at the sky this afternoon. The clouds were awesome and moving rapidly across the deep blue sky. The trees were still colorful and the whole picture was breathtaking. This song reminds me of that.

Another beautiful piece....... &mdash 10/28/07 - 03:31:09 AM
Paul. This is yet another beautiful piece of music.

I think that you must be at peace with yourself, to write such wonderful melodies. The strings, with their sustain and depth bring the music 'out of the manuscript' and make the listening all the more worthwhile.

It is always a treat to find your music here on MJ's and it would be one reason why I would come back, should I try and find a more reliable music upload web site.

Take care.

Paul.

Enjoyed &mdash 10/28/07 - 07:55:50 AM
Nice piece. A little reminiscent of the later Planets. Happier and less mysterious I guess. I can also hear parts of this as high quality soundtrack during that quiet climatic moment.

Thanks
Bill

Beautifully... &mdash 10/28/07 - 01:40:49 PM
'Grand' and at the same time inspirational..... just beautiful.... those subtle harmonies are so heavenly and serene... though my adjectives seem inadequate to describe this. I really love it... regards M

Perfect graphic element... &mdash 10/28/07 - 03:48:14 PM
...so it's great that the tune itself is neat...

So harmonious it really does feel celestial in origin... If they ever remake '2001: A Space Odyssey', heresy though it would be, submit this one...

And yet, there's also something of 'standing on the earth looking up at something vast' to this one... There's simple, peaceful awe in there, for me...

But, although it seemed to download... &mdash 10/28/07 - 03:53:16 PM
It isn't playing in iTunes...

Don't know if that's a MacJams problem or a Paul Page end problem...

Amazingly sweet &mdash 10/28/07 - 05:23:20 PM
Paul, just now I got it to download properly and play in iTunes. I don't know what the problem was. I'm especially thankful that I was able to download it, because it embodies the awe at which I gaze at God's Creation; the picture above is so apt. Your piece is so grand that it brought tears to my eyes every time I listened to it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Slight reminder... &mdash 10/28/07 - 09:13:10 PM
...of Barber's "Adagio for Strings"...but with a more positive tilt...

...excellent, Paul. Downloaded and ready to travel. So much depth...

Roland String 39 - &mdash 10/28/07 - 09:35:43 PM
Now it's one of my favorites too! This piece reminds me of clouds passing by, constantly changing, serene in the sunlight, passing over and creating quick shadows, but then moving on.

Beyond that, though, the chord progression is a lovely balance of met expectations and delightful surprises.

Got that big rich American string sound - I agree with GuitarPick, I'm picking up a bit of the Samuel Barber's as well and also perhaps Delius and Britten influences. Impressive work.

Very mellow &mdash 11/02/07 - 01:30:29 PM
Very moving &mdash 11/06/07 - 09:03:39 PM
I imagined a sea of people in a montage of time all going about their daily business, and one single person (the single ringing note at the end), standing very still and just observing his surrounding.
Then at the end of the peice, the little person lets out that ringing note and everyone else stops what they are doing and chimes in like a deep chorus singing together.
You are the small wonder.

Terrific pic &mdash 03/12/08 - 10:07:06 AM
paul and it seems like it goes with the music perfectly. Ulra soothing and I think it is music like this that seems more important as I grow in my musical style. Love your use of the deep and very moving sounds just before halfway. You have a very nice control for the softness of the strings, but love how you turn out those deep and bellowing bass notes in the right placements of the music. Strings are soft and infectious indeed towards the end. You have a creativeness that I think great composers have. I hear softness, tenderness that I've heard in very few here at MJ. You have a very delicate style in composers, a real great sign of beautiful musical maturity!

Another great addition to Mj's classical arsenal! I mean that in a good way!
