Description:
This song came about as a test run of my Behringer V-Amp and Yamaha BB-404 and turned out to be a little meaningful piece that, to me, attempts to re-create those moments that we fear, enjoy, and cherish that come and go as quickly as we experience them.

Though this song has 3 unique style changes, they all flow naturally (or not so naturally) into one another. I put the brief lyrics in to draw upon negative feelings of fear, regret and remorse which erupts into an energetic/slightly agressive funk rhythm that jerks away and is reborn as a melodic reflective moment. Hope you enjoy.

(I realize the organ's a bit louder than normal. I really wanted to belt it out there.)

Lyrics:
There's something I want to tell you...

(I don't know how to say it, though)

I know things have been strange lately.

A lot of variations here. Clean sound. And surprises ;-)

Beautiful harmonies!

This is damn good for a test run. Good use of the voice in
the background, good piano riff, very nice work. :)

Derailed! &mdash 09/07/04 - 05:49:04 PM
That is quite a transition at about 3/4 of the way through.
Flutter, flap, fwop! Cool. As if the tape comes off the
capstan drive and is quickly replaced with another song by
the disc jockey. There are some comfortable listening
moments in this piece. The guitar could be a little more
dominant about 3/4 of the way through. I do like the head
voices. The organ is too loud as you transition to part 2,
but you knew that. I guess I don't like anything that makes
you reach for your volume knob.

some great ideas &mdash 09/10/04 - 07:52:41 AM
I liked the way you built up the intensity from the
beginning of this piece, leading into the funk section in
the middle.

But I kept hoping for MORE of a high-point in that funk;
the previous material was building, building, and then.....it
just sort of leveled out with the rythmic section. It would
have been more effective with more "punch" in it, a logical
progression from the earlier material.

And then the last section was so different from the
previous stuff that it belongs in a whole other piece. It was
very nice, but didn't fit.

I can appreciate the "flowing" process you experienced
with this song test. There is wonderful musical material in
each section but to my ears, the last section didn't really
hang together with the first two.

You have a real talent for choosing sounds and mixing
them well in each of these sections. There is excellent
material for at least two different songs.

I particularly liked the last section. Very nice piano! It
would make a nice New Age or perhaps Jazz tune. I hope
that you develop and expand this into a separate song.
