Lyrics
Long distance operator please connect me to the moon
It wont be long I’m going there to get myself in tune
It’s been so long since I’ve been home I’m sure the place has changed
I long to see the earthrise above the mountain range

My wife she was expecting when I last kissed her good-bye
I wonder how our child is, he must be almost five
It really makes me wonder how much this job is worth
As soon as I get settled we might take a trip to Earth

In the silent darkness, in a frozen void
Stationed on an outpost, forsaken asteroid
Looking at my view screen I though I saw your face
It’s enough to make a man believe its lonely out in space

Long distance operator, are you still there?
Put me through and hurry, I’ve got no time to spare
“Hello honey, how are you? Is our child all right?
It wont be long before I’m home, flight comes in tonight”

I like that
When I hear this song it reminds me of that song by David Bowie "Space Oddity". Love the fills between verses. Not much ya need to do here if your calling it a work in progress. The guitar sounds really mellow to hear.

Gracias
Thanks for the thoughtful comments. Bowie was on my mind when I wrote this; Elton John too.

Nasa tune you've got...
going on here.Well done on all fronts, the mix the production the playing the song writting are all well done.A instant fav!Your style of singing reminds me a lot of the band 'David and David'.They had a few hits way back when and your voicings are dead on.much enjoyed.

Blessings,

nice tune
the acoustic gtr sounds great, well actually everything sounds great. don't know why, but for some reason i'm getting a duane allman/leon russell vibe from this. the only thing i'd want to see different (since it is a work in progress), is to bring the vocals up a bit and have them sound more natural (they seem like there is some effect on them). they are very nice and i think they would be more potent if they were to be more dry sounding. that;s a taste thing tho, and i think this is great.

Michael...
Good suggestions—i may try a bit less effects on the vocals.
When I wrote this I sort of imagined Arlo Guthrie singing it, but your Leon Russell/Duane Allman take is pertinant too! Thanks
