Description:
reasonable

Lyrics:
V 1

(When I'm) weak, I walk along the shores of life,
When I find reasons that can be - yeah.
Often you will see the fair side
Many can feed, oftenly, be here.

CH 1

Every time you said, I can be, every time you said,
I can feel a need, autumn leaves, be here.

V 2

When your down, down amongst the things you don't, (Yeah-ey)
You can fly, like an eagle in the skies, yeah.
Seen so many times you can't fall over it,
Want to be above, can believe, be here.

CH 2

Every time you said, (you) often leave, every time you said,
Every time you said, oftenly, be here,
Every time, every time, every time you said,
Often I will be here (for you).

MID

Want to find a reason to love,
Want to find a reason to love, someone took yesterday's prize.
Want to find a reason to love,
Want to find a reason to love, someone took yesterday's prize.

CH 3

Every time you say,
Oftenly,
Every time,

--

Every time you say,
Please don't put your hand on my shore,
All (this) began yesterday.

END

Great tune ... &mdash 11/02/07 - 06:04:35 PM

..powerful. Great drums, guitars, singing and arrangement.

Mix is excellent too level wise, only quibble: the vocals sounded a touch sibilant on 's' and 't's to me on my headphones... don't know if that was a side-effect of the FX/EQing (I'll check with my monitors during the day bud).

I have at least 3 mixes/versions of this track.

I pumped # 2 through VS 880 tonight for a laugh.

I'll do a proper mix in time.

ABBA are popping over on Wednesday.

Cheers,

Graham

nice alt, but rough &mdash 11/02/07 - 10:43:41 PM
I liked the harmonies and ideas here and there. However the recording seemed not well mixed/EQed. The mix sounded a little hot, the vox were slightly muffled, and the recorded guitars seemed a little raspy. The actual playing, drums, guitars, singing seemed quite good. Just a bit rough on the final recording aspect... at least to these ears.

on second thought... &mdash 11/02/07 - 10:47:42 PM
after listening again and reading Alan's (APB) critique, perhaps the vox is not "muffled"... it is just difficult to make out your words... so perhaps all the reverb and other instruments playing at about the same pitch are what is making it hard to pick out the words. Of course, with the cool harmonies you have going here, you could probably just do an Enya "ahhhoooh, oooh" singing, and it would sound good... Words are over-rated anyway :-) Anyway, that was *really* what I meant instead of "muffled".

Drakonis

muffle &mdash 11/03/07 - 03:37:27 AM
Tanks Draks,

The reason that the words are muffled is that there aren't any !!

This is one of a large batch of songs that we wrote pending the arrival of a lead vocalist. This one was from 98. During that period, I re-assumed lead vocals simply as a guide. By then, I had given up lyric writing so simply mumbled melodies/harmonies during the period that we were auditioning vocalists.

I do have a version of this song featuring *Binky* on lead vocals but thought I would upload this rough mix simply to get some feedback.... Since this version is far from a *final mix* and "mastered" late on a Friday night, there are many imperfections....

Understanding &mdash 11/03/07 - 07:01:11 AM
now, through your explanation the cause of the 'muffles' and other sounds, this is a great song, sound and production. I like the different 'layers' and your voice is great... can't wait for lyrics, regards M

I re-listened to the version with *Binky* on vox but it's not worthy of uploading.

I thought about uploading it before but decided against it.

If/when I get a chance, I'll piss about with this or one of the other 2 mixes, tidy it up, re-eq it and remove some of the debris, vocal pops etc.

It might be worth using this as a template to record a new version via a open collab if there was/is sufficient MJ's interest

Good sining!!! &mdash 11/03/07 - 08:03:26 AM
Really Really good singing. I also liked the beat(feel). It flows real well!!
The blend of the harmonies is master job. Nice guitar riff . Almost sounds like an old Ebow. Id like to know what are using on this piece.
I think Alan said it best ...Great arrangemnet!!

guitar &mdash 11/03/07 - 08:28:29 AM
Well, I rang *Flatch* who played the guitar. He sends his thnx BTW. He couldn't remember how he managed the Ebow effect but I did. Simply used a pinky to increase/decrease volume switch on his guitar whilst strumming.

He did this on a couple of other recordings if memory serves me correctly.

You are an awesome singer. Cool drums - You really did a wonderful job here with the harmonies and echo effects. Enjoyed throughout! Thanks for sharing.

Voice &mdash 11/03/07 - 12:00:24 PM
Thank you very much indeed Gail.

God those cymbals are terrible.....

One of the reasons that I chose to step back from the mic at least lead vox was that during our rock phase, it was pretty boring watching a lead singer on stage stuck behind a rack of keyboards. Moreover, my voice is more attuned to pop not rock.

Back in our early pop days I was the first person in Scotland to purchase and use a head-set (phantom power) mic. That at least meant I could wander around on stage which was quite unique back then. Can't remember how much it cost but it was well worth and extremely well used.

I'll see what else I can find from my vault that's worth uploading.

Try a de esser on that vocal. Maybe pull back the highs a touch.

This is a worthy piece! Great comp!

AOR Lives! &mdash 11/08/07 - 10:51:57 PM
Very cool concept and execution... reminds me of what used to be called AOR (Album-Oriented Rock).

Yes, it needs an EQ and De-Esser job... bad. lol

But the tune and the concept is right there, so the hard part is out of the way. Well-arranged and orchestrated, it just needs a little technical love. ;)

Whilst not perfect, I have added a *rough guide* from a lyrical perspective.
