Description:
A song that is still a work in progress but I wanted to share anyway. Here's wishing you and yours hope, love and happiness in the coming holidays. Hope you enjoy it.

Lyrics:
These are not lyrics, just thoughts.....

Be thankful for the little things
Be grateful for each day
Take time to smell the flowers
and smile along the way

Good friends are hard to come by
Don't forget to let them know
You love them and appreciate
the faith in you they show

At times your life seems so bad
You cannot make it through
Remember there'll be better days
There is always hope for you!

There's something... &mdash 11/05/07 - 09:11:44 PM
...harp-like about this gentle piece (peace). You have created a very melancholic mood here...one that is calming and restful, a feeling that you sustain beautifully throughout. A couple of thoughts: I don't know what keyboard you are using -- it sounds a bit shrill to my ears, nothing that a little EQ of the treble wouldn't easily take care of... You DO hang around Ab a lot it seems. Can you let your melody sing further from home more often? I love the lower arpeggios that come inperiodically to shift the tonal center. To me, that's the perfect take off for new melodic and harmonic elements that might give the whole piece a little broader structure. ... I hope you will keep working on this number. It is begging for the world to hear it.
Peace.
Paul

Gail, you have a gift &mdash 11/05/07 - 09:12:20 PM
of a beautiful touch - the sense of timing, dynamics, phrasing - which combined with your melodies conveys a flow of feelings that joins heart to heart.

I would love to hear more of this work. Thanks for posting.
Keep well,
Doug

Hi- &mdash 11/05/07 - 09:32:06 PM
I'd agree with Paul that the EQ is not quite right. That being said, however, I find much more to like about this piece. The ebb & flow, your deft yet gentle touch on the keyboard, the nicely spaced arpeggios. All make a peaceful song that will be wonderful when you get to complete it.

Kristy thank you! &mdash 11/06/07 - 07:07:16 AM
I am glad you liked this one. There are alot of bugs to be worked out on it. It is actually not one of my favorites, but a dear friend of mine convinced me to upload it - even though it is not finished. I did it more for him than anything else. :) Everytime I hear it, I find many things that need changed....ugh! Oh well, one of these days I might get to fix it. In the mean time, thank you for listening and for the kind words. I appreciate it very much!

heart songs again &mdash 11/05/07 - 10:06:43 PM
Hope springs eternal... and my dear dear friend, this song speaks of hope in so many ways.

First, the bad part: recording seems so-so, the high notes are a little piercing...

...but the lower register sounds superb and I wanted you to go back and swell up more of the low notes, that sounded great. The overall music, like all of yours, feels so emotional, and the way you play with the tempo really carries me along on every note... I love the power you put into these pieces. I wanted this to go on and on. There are good friends around you wishing you great joy, despite your current trials... and I would like to offer myself as one of those friends wishing you the best. Your music is very moving, and your playing style is very good. I continue to hope that soon you will find the opportunity to record some more of these gems, and work on completing this one and others. What a delightful gem you are... thank you for sharing your gift with us, Gail! I love your thoughts above.
ttfn,
Drakonis

Recording seems so so? High notes piercing?? How dare you say such things to me!!! Well I oughta...... ha ha
Seriously, my friend, you are so right on what you said. As I said to others, there are many "issues" with this one and hopefully I will get to repair and complete one day. I am so grateful for the kind comments and for all the support that you give me regularly! You have a heart of gold - you tough dragon you! Thank you so much!!!!

Your very kind words are so appreciated! Thank you for coming by and listening. I am glad you liked it. You are right about the tender heart...I am just a big wimp actually. :) I always have a tendancy towards soft, sentimental, lovey dovey, soothing type music when I guess I need to just break out and dance!! Oh well, I am dancing on the inside, does that count? Peace to you, my friend, thank you again!

I'm not &mdash 11/06/07 - 06:15:02 AM
going to criticise anything about this recording....ooops!. except that I was suprised by the finish mid-flow LOL it was a bit like when you walk down some steps and thinking there's another... but there isn't and you jar your teeth together LOL. I love the way you play as I've said before... it really flows and seems so intuitive to whatever mood you try to convey. This is beautiful, so please play the rest of it and post it up here. I'm no technician, so I appreciate your artistry irrespective of the recording facilities....the sound is fine for me; I could listen from now till 'Kingdom Come'... and the poetry is just beautiful, regards M

Time out? You make me laugh. Thanks for that! As far as adding drums or singing....well the truth is I do not have the right equipment to be able to do that at this point. The music I have uploaded is from a cd I made on a whim...One day soon I hope, I will do the things you mentioned and join in on more fun. I appreciate your support very much. I am so glad you like this. Thank you

I always liked this track. I'm glad you FINALLY posted it. It has great potential and you should buy some software so you can work on it at home. What are you waiting for?

P.S., your poem would make a good greeting card. You're so talented!

You are a great friend and always so supportive, when you are not being so mean and cruel and calling me names! LOL...seriously you know you mean so much to me and I appreciate you coercing me to come here in the first place :) Glad you liked the poem. Reminded me of someone we both know very well.

Thanks you Gail &mdash 11/06/07 - 04:18:04 PM
This is one gorgeous piece of music you have sent our way. It's so soft and loving and warm. Like the touch a mother give her sleeping child. Just enough to say I love you but not enough to disturb you.

It needs no improvement, but I can hear it in my mind with accents from strings, or being done with an orchestra playing softly in the background..

It touches the heart and soul Gail, and it's wonderful.

Ed

You are too kind and I really appreciate your sweet comments. I am glad you like the song. I too, can hear a string section here and in each of my songs actually. I seem to always wind up in the same place with my music. Oh well.. Thanks for listening and for all of your support. :)

I hate that you have had a tough week. I know how that feels. I am glad you enjoyed the song and the poem. If you smiled even just a little bit, then my day was made. Thanks for your kind words and for stopping by to listen. Bob, here's hoping you have a much better week! :)

Beautiful tune! &mdash 11/07/07 - 05:04:20 PM
This is a very calming piece - I love the mood you've created. I didn't really have a problem with the higher notes through my computer speakers - which aren't great but are normally good enough to hear if a recording is way off - just a little tweak to the upper-mid should reduce that 'peakiness'. I do hope you'll find the time to finish this as it ends far to soon... Lovely. Peter

I am so glad you came by and liked what you heard. I appreciate your kind comments very much! I am sure that many can relate that when we listen to our own music, there are so many things wrong with it. This is one of those pieces to me, but honestly, I am sure I will get over it! ha ha...thank you again for taking the time to listen.

Oh my word... &mdash 11/08/07 - 02:20:55 AM
.. this has a beautiful intimate feel. To me it conjures images of Autumn leaves, of partings and the regrets of chances not taken.
It feels very filmic, more than incidental but subtle enough to play under a well directed scene without the need for dialogue, the music could tell the story so well.
I love it, it sent a shiver through me.

I really appreciate your kind comments. How nice of you to stop by for a listen. I am so glad you enjoyed the song and I feel the same way about what it portrays. There are countless interpretations but I am such a loving, sappy kind of gal....I have a big tendancy to write lovey dovey, break my heart songs. :) Thanks again for you sweet compliments! You made my day!

Moving.. &mdash 11/10/07 - 11:27:00 PM
This has a very sentimental and romantic flow... quite a moving musical experience... i was imagining how this song could have been sung with the poem that you wrote... i was not sure if the end of the song was deliberately abrupt... it kinda woke me up all off a sudden as i was about to drift into a dreamy state... other than that little quibble, this is totally beautiful to the ears.

Thanks Leon - &mdash 11/11/07 - 07:47:00 AM
Kind words like this coming from you, is always considered a very nice compliment. You sing like an angel and I will always enjoy your creations! I did not write the poem to go with the song particularly, just as an addition to my thoughts. Though it may work putting them together, I hadn't given it much thought :) Regardless Leon, I appreciate your comments and that you came by for a listen. Be well!

Well, I don't what to say that hasn't already been said in the comments above. Just wanted to let you know I found this to be a beautiful and soothing piece. But not just a 'feel good' piece, there is more to it, like it challenges you and moves you in some way I'm having a hard time to explain. I was sorry to hear it fade out so quickly! I hope you'll upload the finished work soon! Thanks for sharing your talent here, -Sergio.
