Poem (21)Sure (2)Failed (1)Fall (15)bullts (1)woe (1)forgiveness (11)righteous (3)justice (6)peace (94)
Description:
This is a short Poem I wrote six years ago to commemorate Armistice or Remembrance Day (which is held on the 11th of November every year and the Nearest Sunday) for Soldiers of all wars who died for their Country in the face of danger and/or against opression and injustice. It's a poem that says that even the people who caused the wars can be forgiven, but only when they come to to the understanding of their wrongdoing and ask for forgiveness. It's saying that we will ALL be brought to account at some point.

Lyrics:
A Poem for Armistice Day

As sure as they who had to fall, failed to flee the bullets call,
So too shall they who caused this woe, still have to answer and to know,
That when they come to Gods’ great hall,
All sorrowed hearts will know their gall,
But unlike those who plead their case, the ones with love will show their face,
To cleanse them of their sad disgrace, and pull them to their feet again,
To know that justice will be done, when hatred from their heart is gone.
Forgiveness then will surely come, to bind together everyone,
Whose thoughts are righteous, true and good, to live in peace, as all men should.

Maurice Vizard.

Maurice this is beautiful. &mdash 11/09/07 - 08:20:01 AM
There's not much else to say about this. The music is quiet and soul stirring and the words give hope to all that listen.

One thing I did notice that might make it a little better, is that when you first started speaking there was what sounded like distortion in the vocal. It could be the level was set too high and it started clipping. If you bring the level down and re-record the vocal I think it would help it.
One other thing would be to put just a touch of reverb on the vocal to smooth it out.
Again, this is a beautiful poem that I really like, I just know the production could be a little better.

Respectfully, your friend

Ed

Hi Ed.. &mdash 11/09/07 - 05:12:57 PM
I'm glad you liked this poem. I think maybe I was a bit close to the mic' at first, since I was well below the 'clipping' level in GB... and I tried a bit more reverb too on the vocal, but it emphasises the 'S's', which I seem to have a problem with ( wish I could take my teeth out LOL [joke] ...maybe I should start to lithp(lisp) that would solve it) so I took most of the reverb off, tho' there is still some there.... Thanks and regards M

i love how you wrote a poem for all the soldiers. regardless of whether or not you agree with what's being fought for, you have to respect the person who is willing to put their life on the line for their country. the backing music is a very nice eno-esque piece of ambienc as well. great job.

I'm pleased that you listened to this and commented. We are all human and we can still love people as humans, but not like the things they do.... it's thanks to those who are willing to put their lives (and for some, their bodies.... we must remember the maimed also) on the line in order to bring about peace for the rest of us, regards M

Undeniably... &mdash 11/09/07 - 05:47:42 PM
...beautiful and artistic poem and vocal expression of them. To Americans, an English accent is always a welcomed bit of "class," and you add that and so much more to these powerful words. Your pacing is perfect and the tempo of the whole performance piece could not be any more evocative of the call for unity and peace. Just beautiful.
Peace.
Paul

Reminded me of the great responsibility we all have to do away with the need for an Armistice Day by doing away with the wars that end in an armistice.

well crafted &mdash 11/15/07 - 09:45:38 AM
words... I have ten times as much music as I do lyrics... I always appreciate well crafted words that lead someplace... I'll read a lyric sometimes and you know that they were straining for the rhyme... instead of leading the listener somewhere special...

this is inspired
