Song Description

Three dimensions

Two dimensions

One dimension

Lyrics:
i'm building up a sculpture
one voxel at a time
chocolate rabbits
i'm building up a picture
one pixel at a time
candy corn
daffodils
chocolate coins

i'm building up a song
one sample at a time
autumn leaves
a meadow lark
candied apples
white snow drifts
a cricket chirping
slices of life

a green leaf drifting down the stream
a rainstorm
slices of time
blue sky
thunder rumbling

a grain of sand
dark gray clouds

snow falling

a green rock
children laughing

the silver light before sunset

the wind blowing through the trees

a blue robin's egg

chocolate rabbits

the night falling

clouds

i'm building up a sculpture
one voxel at a time

What a long strange trip it's been &mdash 11/09/07 - 02:04:23 PM
You had to be committed to do this piece. I won't say where to. Much enjoyed - head scratching and all. Trying to grasp the concept behind the dimensions - do explain. The swimming voices are pretty amazing.

you had to ask! there is an analogy going on here:

3 dimensions - sculpture - voxels
2 dimensions - picture - pixels
1 dimensions - song - samples

there are also 3 different songs blended together here.

except for that 20 minute "relaxation tape" (http://www.macjams.com/song/30708 "Ponder Then Awaken") this is the longest of my tunes to date.

there actually is some intentional stuff going on in the mix here...

thanks Bud

thanks - glad you liked it - it was a fun experiment in chaos - i think i was thinking about "Revolution Nine" a little while doing this.

what an undertaking &mdash 11/09/07 - 03:14:31 PM
is this why i feel like you have been gone awhile? really cool piece. i'm prety blown away at all the changes and different parts you fit into this. great job.

i've been real busy with work and stuff at home. i guess that's the source of the energy behind the chaos here.

this song is a construct of three songs that have been partially done for a long while... each one alone just wasn't going anywhere. together they have become whole.

thanks

All my favorite memories incl. Rock & Roll &mdash 11/09/07 - 09:46:05 PM
I close my eyes, the sound of your voice has not changed - calls me home to New England and childhood, I am transported back through time. I remember the happiness in simple things. :-) Peace Bill :-)

you found part of the theme in the lyrics - cool! i was going for universals...

thanks for listening and commenting

I like all the various textures... like the overlapping, evolving patterns and visual kaleidoscopic rhythms that leave large-scale strobed temporal trails. Hm, this tune makes my mind wander: good work.

the three songs in here are in different keys with different tempos and different styles and moods. they really don't "want" to be mixed, but it works in a way. it's a sort of flood of feelings as a result - and somewhere in the process i realized what the title needed to be.

each song is a separate GarageBand project. i ended up tweaking each one several times to make them mix the way i needed them to. the spoken lyrics were added as a fourth element to really drive home some concepts about dimensions and elementary ideas/sensory inputs.

thanks!

I have &mdash 11/10/07 - 03:50:20 PM
not got a first clue of what's going on here but I really,
really like it whatever it is. It goes in very deep and is extremely powerful. Superb.
Cheers

glad you liked it - understanding is probably not a goal here - more like confusion & chaos - so i think you got what's going on all right!

thanks

thanks - i poured some personal negative energy into this and it turned it into a fun project - it's almost therapeutic.

Well, sir... &mdash 11/11/07 - 02:24:14 PM
...with a song title like that...bound to attract some kind of attention...

...where do I order the chocolate rabbit sculpture...?

Love the sweeping theme with the beat still steady...then the vox and the move away from the beat...

...nice, nice piece, SVW...

hmmm... i hadn't even considered trying to draw attention. the title came up as a good description of what the song was turning into as i worked on it. (and i have no idea where to find those rabbits any more.)

thanks!
