the most beautiful thing

Description
I posted this earlier with the very silly title of "daft folk"...I've since remixed this in Logic Pro 7 and come up with a better title. This is not meant to be a boast, but at the time I recorded it, it was the most beautiful thing I'd recorded, I think. I hope you enjoy it.

It is beautiful
There is a lovely interplay here that feels good in a sad sort of way. Reading some of the forum posts about the death of a MJ member perhaps made this piece grab me all the more.

and beautiful it is
Hi Jim, you sure have made something beautiful here. If I close my eyes and drift along with the tones you provide through your guitar I get to a pleasant place where I can relax and slow down.

And the tones are so well captured that it's almost like you're in the same room as I'm in. You are a master in recording technique, and that goes well together with the great musician you are.

Beautiful sums it up:)

I've still got the original...
Another of the first things I downloaded from MacJams... I seem to recall a different shot of the Guild...Both of which are beautiful...And speaking as a former Guild owner who doesn't even LIKE Guilds, I think you are getting exceptional sound from this one... Great wood, great string sounds, and a lightness that really fits the tune...

This version has terrific presence...

Guess I'll have to have this one too...

I wonder if you'll notice the difference?
I've yet to listen to the earlier version and this one side-by-side, but I think this one is a better mix. I think this is the same photo, but it might be slightly different filters or something. I love my Guild, though I do think they are not all created equal. Every time I think about getting a new acoustic, there's really not another one that matches up with this one for me. Thanks for the comment!

There's no
doubt that this is a lovely piece the way it meanders like a river flowing past various scenes, but.... it's not always in the 'sound' that the beauty lies, as you've done some lovely stuff where the beauty has been in the lyrical 'emotional' content... like when your son left for the City, cheers M

It really is!

Nice mood. Nice space. Wonderful recording.
Puts me in a spacy relaxed state. I am digging this with joy!

I've been a little preoccupied...
since I decided that I couldn't go out and get Logic Studio until I mastered the Logic Pro 7 app that I already have but haven't been able to figure out. So I started by using it for mastering a few songs and got a little better understanding of things. And so I decided to move on to using it to remix songs. Since I deleted most of my songs posted here on MacJams while the Terms and Conditions was being revised, I figured I'd repost the songs with new and better mixes. A lot of them needed to be revisted, and as long as I haven't opened them up in GB'08, I can open them in LP7 and remix them there, and use it as a way to learn more about Logic. A couple things about this song needed to be addressed and Logic was well suited to the task. Though this is a live improvisation of 2 guitar tracks (recorded in 2004) that I tracked on 2 tracks in Garageband, to tidy things things up I did make some edits, but there were some really quiet clicks and pops in GB. Logic has a nice crossfade feature that made those edits more acceptable. I could also use Space Designer to get a better reverb on it, and that combined with some really nice Logic limiting and compression plugins made this mix much better than what I'd come up with in GB. Because I have been spending a lot of time trying to figure out LP7, I haven't recorded much new stuff, but I am looking forward to remixing a lot of my old stuff and reposting it here. Thanks a lot for your comment!

Well...
...you've definitely got my interest piqued on Logic, Jim...I know what you mean about the quiet clicks in GB...a crossfade would be sweet.

This tune has a lot of life and breath to it. I'm really impressed.

My feeling ....
My feeling is this is a top notch recording. To me its
as good as it gets. I played this for a Close friend of mine that owns a studio. He thought the same thing.
Great job all the way around!!

YA
Very very nice open tuning feel here,. Like that new age ending. Love the open tuning new age language you speak here. The subtleties, musical nuances are uplifting and sweet to hear.
Way to go!

open tuning...tiler
This is actually not strictly a open tuning, it's from low to high: D-A-D-E-A-D capoed somewhere up high on the neck. I think one track was on the fifth fret and the other was on the 10th fret. Thanks for the complements; coming from a master guitarist such as yourself, I can't help but be flattered!

Commenting Only On
the music right now... listening on headphones in the early a.m. ...

It suggests a mellow acoustic jam session between Paul Simon and David Crosby. I suppose the alternate tuning has a bit to do with that, but the melody strikes me that way.

Nice job, Jim. ;)
