Description:
This song is the first song on our second album, "Another Batch". The words are based on something my father used to say when it rained. He was a glass-half-full type of guy, and since we had a farm where we grew corn, he did look on the bright side when it rained. I mentioned this to Kelli and she wrote these lyrics and found the right melody to go along with my music. It was raining at the time we recorded this so the rain sound is the actual rain outside my window.

I think the first version I heard... &mdash 11/12/07 - 08:52:07 PM
...is going to be my favorite forever...Sometimes I think it's just like that...But heck, it's probably also a song that I'd collect three or four versions of, gratefully...

I love the worldview in this... I'm in the mood to collect positivity just now...

this version is pretty similar &mdash 11/12/07 - 09:01:50 PM
to the first version I posted here. I think I might have tweaked the mix a bit and remastered it to be a bit more rounded sounding, but I think it's pretty much the same other than small things in the mastering. In trying to get a unified sound for the CD, I did some tweaking, but it probably was minimal in this song more than most, as this one was pretty complete the way it popped out to begin with.

Welcome back! &mdash 11/13/07 - 08:28:06 AM
I'm so glad the new T&C is posted. The main reason: you are posting again! Hoping this is the first of a deluge... wash it over us, Jim.

Thanks for chiming in, Tobin! &mdash 11/13/07 - 10:23:40 AM
Just because I'm enabling download for this here, I hope it won't discourage people from going to iTunes and buying the album there. Thanks to the admins for finally revising the Ts&Cs and to show I'm not an ungrateful cur, I will be posting the rest of The Fritters' songs here again in the new CD versions eventually but will probably space them out a little at a time so as not to dominate the new songs list. Thanks for chiming in, Tobin!

...a beauty.

Spent some time on a farm during a drought year. Remember waiting and praying for the rain...

Fantastic tune, people...

Hello my friends &mdash 11/15/07 - 12:24:12 PM
Great post once again. I am still waiting for the fritters world tour. i even bought a lighter. I thought it might be a nice idea during the bridge to use a few eno-esqe sounds since it does mark an epiphanic transition. That's just me. kudos.

Love this &mdash 11/16/07 - 11:06:10 PM
Kelli, beautiful singing - you remind me of a relaxed Kasey Chambers in some ways (a very good thing) - and excellent arrangement/performance/production Jim. Love the relaxed feel and the relaxed mastering - you probably need to give a tutorial on your mastering process. Always smooth yet full of detail. This sounds like rain on a pond - a great capture.

Not corny at all. &mdash 02/27/08 - 08:07:23 PM
It just might be a little Joni-Mungus jazzy. This is great music. (I'm partial to thos string bends, gotta mention.) Everything fits so well, there's really nothing in need of whack-a-mole EQ-ing, either. Man, it must be rewarding to be you two.
