Keywords:
mariana (1)trench (2)bathyscaphe (1)trieste (1)diplodocus (1)depression (23)ic42 (15)
Description:
it is an immense ocean, the pacific. there are many depressions in the ocean floor. however the deepest is the mariana trench. it is filled with unknown danger, and beauty. it is time once again to descend into this depression.

it is the first opportunity for ic42 to collaborate. this is "Ember", by Drakonis, a beautiful and popular piece to collaborate on. it is slowed to mirror the ocean, electronics were submerged, and a diplodocus was added for scale.

it is hoped that this version of "Ember-Rekindled" is unique and worthy of a slow 12 minute descent into the abyss and a return. it requires patience, so as not to suffer decompression sickness. it is a lullaby of the deep. 0x0

Hardware:
Quicksilver

Deeeeeeeeeeep &mdash 11/13/07 - 06:35:47 AM
Your rendition of Ember perfectly captures the feeling of being deep underwater. I hear the whale and I think something bigger is pursuing it, but it managed to get away. I love the sounds you added in here; it transports me to another dimension, where nothing of the world intrudes. Back to the surface.... I'm glad it was an easy ascent; I didn't get the bends. :-)

...and how the boards did shrink &mdash 11/13/07 - 05:33:07 PM
it is a successful piece, if it transports you to such dimensions. it is unfortunate that the whale got away... everything needs dinner from time to time. perhaps a school of ahi will be acceptable for now. it was difficult to create a sense of descent, then ascent, and light, and diplodocus-song. stretching out the midi to leviathan size also required much effort. however, if the result is effective, a sense of accomplishment is created. thank you. 0x0

it is a huge ocean filled with so much. macjams is also a huge ocean. your versions of ember are just noticed... a listen and comment will be coming soon as such short time permits. so many fish, so little time. thank you for finding this and listening. 0x0

Who is &mdash 11/14/07 - 03:15:22 AM
mariana? Why those keywords? :(( The track sounds nice n warm to me!
Mmmm, I hope all is shaded in Ember! It is a nice color, nice and fuzzy. I hate fuzzy, but sometimes fuzzy is also good! I enjoyed this piece, hope all is well my friend.

always fuzzy &mdash 11/14/07 - 08:17:37 AM
it is always fuzzy here. cold and fuzzy, no warmth.

keywords are a hint of the direction of this remix. it is left to the reader to research the mariana trench, the trieste, and the diplodocus. they are part of this journey. and the research is part of the journey as well. it is hoped that new places are discovered for you. thank you for visiting this new place. 0x0

is it MJ? &mdash 11/14/07 - 05:59:29 PM
it is understood... a smokey token of humorous wordplay. it is also greatly appreciated that you are taken 20,000 leagues down with nothing more than an ambient soundscape. thank you very much for listening through the diving helmet. 0x0

reread &mdash 11/16/07 - 11:54:11 PM
thank you for falling over the ridge. it is humorous, when reading your comment about "an enoish feel", it was first mis-read as "an ennuish feel", and ennui is the feeling at the bottom. however, eno is an even better compliment. 0x0

Oh My ..... &mdash 03/15/08 - 11:46:54 PM
... how did I almost miss an "Ember" .... this is truly one deep version .... but not submersed far enough to put out the flames of Ember ! Nice take on Drak's tune. I like the slowed down tempo ... kept looking over my shoulder for creatures of the deep ... Five Extra Arms nailed it when he made reference to Davey Jone's Locker .... there is an added dimension of sadness with those lengthened notes ....

long, sad, deep &mdash 03/16/08 - 11:31:39 AM

easy to miss &mdash 04/08/08 - 06:20:32 PM
it is easy to miss if it is hiding in a depression. it falls through the cracks in macjams. thank you for finding it. there is a ray of light in the world. it makes joy to be found. there must be time made to listen to your music again. it is always beautiful at your page. 0x0

is this lo-fi? &mdash 06/05/08 - 05:17:11 PM
early pink floyd-like in some ways - but very unique regardless!

i like how the ring-mod sounds descend. it just keeps getting darker and darker.

perhaps there is a 90 foot lizard hiding down there? perhaps it doesn't want to become an appetizer served with mariana sauce?

thank you

it is not lo-fi &mdash 06/05/08 - 07:24:21 PM
it is, perhaps, deep-fi. the descending sounds were part of the experimental sonics. it is good that you picked them out. they wanted to be heard. don't we all? thank you for listening. the saucy comment made me smile. 0x0

it must be slow &mdash 08/26/08 - 10:20:12 AM
it seemed to be a beautiful set of notes, and i wanted them to last for a long time. when i slowed ember down, it became an underwater descent. it is a joy if you like this version. thank you for a comment. it is time to reciprocate with your music. 0x0

I have an idea for you. I think babies would love your music. Newborns have no conceived notions and relatively little experience. They would become immersed, especially in something like this, Drakonis' Ember burning bright at the bottom of the ocean. I think your work demands attention. I think it distracts me from the ugly and realigns my focus on what could be better. Maybe your music is hope given sound. Thanks. :)

pre-conceived newborn idea &mdash 09/07/08 - 01:37:42 PM
it is a good idea. if the music gives hope, it is a success. it attempts to be mystery, but beauty. it is perhaps like you. it is time to swim in music... it is time to create a piece for char. thank you for such warm thoughts and ideas. 0x0
