Description:
I took an old tune of my own and asked a few horn players to join in the fun.
I am grateful for the two great contributions.
IG.STUiDO on Tenor Sax (Ilya)
and
bass2x on trumpet (James)
The tune goes thru some cool changes. I really dig it when the Trumpet solo comes beaming in, adding a touch of
“Spain” to the mix.
You just have to dig James tone and note placement. His playing has lifted a few of my tunes into another place. Thanks James.
But fist you will experience the sweet melodic tantalizing Saxophone of Ilya as he dances round, creating anticipation with his every lick and chop.
Ilya gave me some great harmony stuff, which helped me to give the song strenth and depth.
Thank you Ilya
Big thank you to both.

What a relaxed music bed for the soloists to play on top of. Must have been a dream to play along to. Sounds very sweet and good.
And they both get a warm and great tone out of those horns. Pro stuff indeed. Nice to hear that smooth and sexy guitar in between them. [ Reply to This ]

hi Gail &mdash 11/19/07 - 01:26:41 AM
Thanks for coming over to listen.
You have very kind words to say and that always makes my day.
I like coming back to post notes when I can do it right and recall who I talking to in a cyber sort of way.
You music (as I remember) is also very soothing. Music can cover so many different feelings and emotions and here we get to share that part of it too. For me that makes all the work/if I should call it work...worth it.
Thank you for sharing your feelings about my music

Nice session &mdash 11/15/07 - 07:02:44 PM
Sorry to have missed this one, but I'm sure there will be others. I was too busy drinking, I mean singing about Guinness.
Once I get out of the pub, I walk down the street to your club for a spell to check out whats going on. Sounds like a cool groove going on and worth setting for a spell and of course, drinking some more Guinness.
I'm sure this one was fun putting together for you.
Take it smooth Tim. [ Reply to This ]

Great Warm, Jazzy Sound &mdash 11/16/07 - 12:48:58 PM
Subdued performances with sensational results. Very fluid, interesting piece. Great horn work built around a well-conceived and executed composition. The instruments meld unobtrusively in the mix, almost to perfection.
VERY nice work, gentlemen!

nice to have you visit.
it got me over to your site and well... for that I am grateful. You have great stuff/music is a better word i guess
Your comment about the way the intruments mingle just perfect was my goal in this song, and these guys really helped me pull it off with the great tracks they sent me. What great players.
I love the intimacy that comes from playing with others and the connection between musicians when they are jamming. I tried to capture that for real with inspired rhythm stuff for them to play over and then cleaned up the rhythm tracks to let there tracks shine.
thanks for noticing the results.

Nice composition and tasty guitar &mdash 11/17/07 - 01:27:06 PM
it's great hearing some real wind instruments around here for a change. You know - the bass kicks pretty good here to - there were a few later Grateful Dead moments (Lesh - Marsalis) in this. Have you ever checked out Dave Douglas? Interesting trumpet player. Thanks for the heads up on this one. [ Reply to This ]
hey bud &mdash 11/21/07 - 11:00:08 PM
I got the kids a puppy.
thought you might be interested.
The Lesh and Marsalas reference is cool. I here it to.
I didn't spent a lot of time listening to the latter GD stuff after Keith and Donna were gone from the band, but i did live on the earlier stuff.
Phil lesh was so creative and not conventional in his approach to playing along with tunes that he gave every moment the feeling that there was a jam going on.
Dave Douglas I will check out Now!
Thanks
thanks ffor you kind words and I really appreciate your visiting this tune.

Your comment about the head phones is true. I do most of my mixing in headphones and I often forget about the speakers.
I like to shuffle up a few songs and let them surprise me in the order they play, cause sometimes thats when I here what the song really sounds like...does that make any scents?
peace to you

For the drums i am always looking for Jack Dejohnnette, but he is off somewhere in the real world of studio musicians jammin with the likes of Kieth Jarrett or Pat Metheney.
I am eternally looking to find real drummers on macjams.

What a nice trip. So wonderful to hear this kind of quality jazz tunes now and then. The start of the song is splendid and sets the tone... until the very last note. Great theme, played with gusto by all of you. This is such a huge collab. Wonderful, wonderful (while hitting the 'play' button for the third time...)

I'm no Expert &mdash 11/28/07 - 01:53:22 AM
I'm no expert on jazz (I don't know really anything about jazz) but I know good music when I hear it! When listening to this fine musicianship I can close my eyes and picture a smokey bar (can't smoke in bars anymore in Ohio so I guess it would have to be a fog machine filled bar), the musicains are playing in a corner of the room, light comes in from behind the musicians so they are backlit, you see their silhouettes and the light shines through their hair and lands on their instruments of brass and wood, the smoke swirls and dances on the beams of light, the spectators sit back, close their eyes and their minds are transported from their bodies where time stands still. Yeah, something like that!! Thanks for asking these cats to play on your song Tim. Great performance by all! [ Reply to This ]

Smooth and easy Jazz at it's best Tim &mdash 12/02/07 - 12:38:56 AM
Great colab going here on a thoughtful quiet ride to a very cool place. I like the way you work the guitar and sax in opposition sometimes and as a compliment at others, And the trumpet and sax together make it rise to a whole new level when they start playing off each other.
Very nice piec Tim, IG and bass. Love it all the way through.
