Description:
This is a song that a friend of mine and I wrote one evening in 1989. It's about how it feels when you meet the right one. All tracks were written and performed by me, but Lisa shares in the credit for the lyrics.
Hope you enjoy it, and thanks for listening.
Ed

Thank you Feter &mdash 11/21/07 - 03:53:23 PM
The vocal on this was actually recorded in 1992 or 1993 on analog tape along with the lead guitar parts and the original backing tracks. It's one of the early tapes I did after getting some new equipment back then.
Just the other day I decided to see if I could make it better, so I brought the whole song into Cubase SE3 and went through all the tracks to clean them up and make it a better song. Then I brought those tracks into Garage Band and made the final mix down you heard here on MJ. If you could hear the original you'd be amazed at the difference in the two versions. This one is so much fuller and tighter than the old one.
Well anyway, thanks you again Feter for coming over to listen, and for you kind comments.
Be well and happy my friend

Solid work Ed. &mdash 11/21/07 - 05:01:59 PM
Laid back with a touch of Dire Straits.
Quality stuff as normal.
Cheers

I'll say it's laid back. &mdash 11/21/07 - 05:54:14 PM
I don't have a choice at my age Dick, I'm just to old to get all hot and bothered about it now. But I still love doing the music so I'll keep at it as long as I can.
Thanks for the visit Dick, and for the nice comment about Dire Straits. Your the second person that's mentioned that connection on this song.
Good to hear from you again as always.
Be well my friend

Great sound and feel... &mdash 11/21/07 - 05:53:31 PM
in this one, Ed. A real polished stune that, I think, hits the mark for a love song. You've got a great voice... real smooth.
cheers, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Jack &mdash 11/21/07 - 06:01:54 PM
Ya know for the longest time I felt that this one had potential, but I could never get the sound I wanted on it. The other day I decided to try again on it and between Cubase and Garage Band I managed to get it cleaned up and mixed down to where I finally felt like it was good enough to post.
Thanks for confirming my decision to rework and post it with your comments Jack, it really helps my confidence.
Be well, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, as well as to all the MacJammers and their families.

Thanks Gail &mdash 11/21/07 - 06:34:37 PM
Oh, do I need to send out the Country Music Paramedics to check on you. Actually, this song is more like an R&B song than Country so it's safe to really, really love this one. No guilt here Gail. LOL...
Thanks again for coming to see me and listening to this one Gail. I'm really glad you like it even if it's not Country. My music tends to be more of the commercial type than artistic, but you latest post "Trickle of Grace is much more pleasant to listen to, I think. I've never been able to go there musically, at least not yet anyway. Maybe someday if I live long enough.
Take care my Texas friend, good to hear from you.

You sound &mdash 11/21/07 - 07:23:11 PM
great on this as usual.I always wished I could sing-I just don't have a voice.Nice groove on this.I'd really like to hear it with a real drummer(maybe Levon Helm).
Another great tune. [ Reply to This ]
A real drummer would be good! &mdash 11/21/07 - 11:51:38 PM
I actually was a drummer at one time in my life, but I've never figured out how to really get that kind of feel or sound with midi. I could probably get an electronic drum set and do it that way, but it's been so many years since I've played drums, (1969) that it probably wouldn't help all that much.
Oh well, we do what we can I suppose. Anyway, thanks Mark for the kind words. I'm glad you like the song and took the time to let me know.
Be well my friend and keep on playing the great guitar you play.

Hey &mdash 11/25/07 - 01:29:35 AM
This is a great sound.
You bring me back to my first guitar teacher for some reason.
I stated learning just before the Beatles hit the states in '64.

This is making me feel soooo Old &mdash 11/25/07 - 11:32:24 AM
That's because I probably taught your first guitar teacher to play. LOL
Thanks for the kind words Tim, I'm glad you liked this one. I guess maybe I need to work on something that's more into the 21st century sound, and try to get away from the 60's and 70's. But most of what I hear on the radio these days just sounds like noise so I really can't get into it. Oh God, now I sound like my parents did way back when they were complaining about that "evil Rock & Roll".
Again, thanks for stopping by for a listen Tim, always a pleasure to read you thoughts. (didn't know I was a mind reader did you)
Be well my friend

Rock on! &mdash 11/27/07 - 03:39:20 AM
This one hooked me from the get go Ed. Nice arrangement. Beautifully sung and recorded. I agree with Dick Langford re the Dire Straits comparison...although Chris Isaak also comes to mind. Love it.
Be well friend!

Man that's gonna get my head so big I won't be able to get my hat on, being compared to those 2 guys. But I'll take it for sure. Glad you like this one Micheal and took time to comment on it. It made my day.
Be well my friend and keep on putting the great works together. Excuse me while I go have a listen to Lethe (Song Of Er).
Have a great day Mike

Thank you Char &mdash 05/29/08 - 08:25:06 PM
I'm really glad you stopped in for a listen, and enjoyed this song. It was essentially written in one evening back in 1989 while I was visiting over at a friend's house. We were sitting around with nothing to do, and I started playing this rift on a little toy keyboard and my friend, Lisa, started writing down a few lines. In about 2 hours we had the basic structure and lyrics for the song.
When I got back home to my studio, I put down most of the tracks you hear and the song was basically done. Later I polished it up and added some harmony parts and the lead guitar before mastering it. It was a fun song to do and is probably one of my better songs overall.
Thanks again for the kind words Char, they are appreciated.
Take care, be well, and stay cool.
Ed
