Description:
It has been a couple of months since I've had time to visit MJ and compose some music. Too Much work plus time for proficiency tests. (sigh!).
This is a piano piece that has a little of romantic and modern periods. I hope you like it as much as I do.
The picture was taken at night in Shanghai this summer.

Beautiful &mdash 11/23/07 - 09:03:54 AM
composition and playing.Very Chopin like.Being a guitarist I am also reminded of Tarrega who wrote many Spanish pieces in a similar style. You play with lots of emotion.Fantastic!

Nice... &mdash 11/23/07 - 03:18:07 PM
I really enjoy the rubato you throw into your phrasing...There is almost a toccata-like effect to this piece as it freely flows up and down the scale. It's a little hard to find the beat (3/4), though...Maybe that has a bit to do with touch on your keyboard what with f and p often popping out a little unexpectedly. The shimmering effect of this little waltz fits your photo well. You continue to keep the performance bar high! I guess I'd like to hear a little more structure to the composition as a whole. Glad you are writing again. It is a pleasure to hear your work.
Peace.
Paul

Hi Paul &mdash 11/28/07 - 01:48:40 AM
is good to hear from you again. It is true my music should be a little more organized but I am not really shure how to do it. (My lack of more formal music training shows in here). I'll give it some thought for future compositions. Thank you for your comments!

Chopin &mdash 11/24/07 - 08:55:55 AM
Chopin would have heard this and thought, "When did I write this?" This piece could easily pass for one of Chopin's heretofore undiscovered gems. And you play it with ease and with authority. You also make Ivory sound awfully good.

Sounds like you must practice an AWFUL lot. Good for you. Good for the fingers, better for the mind. You are a superb talent, and I hope you keep sharing your music for many years to come.

grabbing my attention &mdash 11/26/07 - 11:18:34 AM
You know how to Shanghai my ears, don't you? :-) This does have a Chopin-esque quality, probably due to how you treat time as a liquid here, and the tempo ebbs and flows with your whim... gives this quite a roller-coaster feel. Nice sweet ending.

I hope your trip to China was great fun... I'd love to hear your travel stories sometime! Welcome back, and glad to hear you finding a little time for music again, in between your busy work schedule!

Hello! &mdash 12/01/07 - 09:55:33 PM
I realize this piece may need more organization but I wanted it to have a little disjointed although pleasant rhythm with ups and downs in the mood and speed. Glad you liked it

Very lovely Enrique... &mdash 12/01/07 - 04:31:40 PM
Just came from listening to Paul F. Page's newbie. You both have a very romantic vibe to your current posts. I love it.

I concur with the Chopin comparison. I'm glad your back in the saddle bro!

Be well!

Wonderful! &mdash 12/16/07 - 07:44:11 PM
This is very similar to Chopin and no worse than many of his compositions. Very romantic and soulful. Thanks for sharing!

Enjoy this style &mdash 03/12/08 - 09:56:40 AM
it is that romantic flavor that I think really grabs me. This has been a great listen this morning. Amongst my favs for sure. A great style, with a terrific pic to go with it. I listen to a lot of music and I am amazed at when I see a terrific picture, it seems most of the percentage of the time the music is really nice. This has a lot of qualities that I love in music, just past 3/4s you change to another nice style and quality that makes a nice tune like so impressive and an easy and beautiful listen to my ears!

Way To Go!!!
