Description:
this is by no means a song. Perceptual Vortex turned me onto this freeware called GleetchLab, and I'm trying to figure out how to use it. You basically load an AIFF into it (up to 6 of them), and then start playing with the controls. This is just a minute long and someone had asked me to post something I did with it so they could get an idea of what it does. Hoping to master this thing eventually. To get a better idea of it's possibilities, you're better off listening to Perceptual Vortex's stuff.

Feel free to take this thing and do whatever you want with it. I was going to put it on the Workbench, but couldn't locate the password.

Hardware:
intel mac mini,

Software:
Gleetch Lab Freeware, GB3 (i added a tambourine to it so you can shake your tail feathers while pondering the freeware)

Interesting..... &mdash 11/23/07 - 04:33:17 PM
This is definitely a good start Michael.

I've played around with your sound file with some grain synthesis plugins, as that's what I'm experimenting with at the moment, but nothing has appeared that's good enough to upload, as yet.

I look forward to some more of your creations with GL.

Take care.

Paul

Is that a granular plug? &mdash 11/23/07 - 04:38:39 PM
I've heard of it. I'll have to try it. One can never have any mayhem in one's music.

while I ponder this, while shaking my tambourine, where do you find this plug-in at?

Ow! &mdash 11/23/07 - 07:33:34 PM
This is music for Daleks. Cool stuff, sounds all Moogy.
Please, Robbie the Robot should never pick a fight with a Dalek, that would be like Allen Ginsberg trying to take on the Berdoo Angels.

I see you've got this working, cool! This is a great soundscape, man. I'm glad I inspired you to check out this software, I hope you keep on experimenting with it, this is a really cool start.

ooh - this could keep me out of trouble &mdash 11/24/07 - 07:13:34 PM
for a long time - until I get into trouble with my wife that is. Thanks for posting. Earlier today I was working on something and wanted to find a midi voice that should have been named "psychedelic melting chaos". Maybe I can stop searching.

The lab &mdash 11/25/07 - 08:39:26 AM
The picture looks a little complex, but it sounds like a more sophisitcated audacity type of software. Like the surround sound-like effects. I may need to try it.

more &mdash 11/25/07 - 09:57:38 AM
complicated than Audacity. you can't record with it the same way. you load the AIFF and then manipulate in real time (can't save anything), there is a record function though so you can save what you did and load it into whatever recording program you're using. not as user friendly as most things out there, but seems like once you figure it out, you can do a alot with it. there are mp3 downloads you can grab at the site, that were made with this. i'm willing to bet my first born that they are far more impressive than my outing.

(quote from some review):
The software is a complete freeware suite for sound designers and open minded musicians. The software is designed to create and manipulate drones, glitches and amazing digital noises with few mouse clicks.
GleetchLAB software is a peculiar collection of instruments that you can patch togheter with a modular matrix. The suite features four stereo loopable wave readers/writers with different random loop point algorithms, one wavetable oscillator, a sonic reducer, 3/4/5 bands parametric EQ, an amazing sonic disgregator, a granular re-synthesis engine, a ring modulator, a 5 stereo tracks mixer, and more.

A very interesting piece of ambient, and a cool experiment. Might have to look for it myself. Cheers for sharing.
