Lyrics:
So much for easy come easy goLife has it's ways life has it's woes
Step back take the time
Why can't we just get along
Even when things seem right
Don't be fooled don't deny the Light
When you you least expect to win (turn to Him)
That's when you you win it all
i'm not feelin' so bad
i know i gotta' long way to go
As i walk by faith not by fad
i know i gotta' long way to go
Readin' the lines yeah i practice some parts
i know um' so well but still i miss the mark
When i'm itchin' to sin like a dog with a flea
Lord i give it to You only You can set me free
i'm i'm not i'm not feelin' so
i'm not feelin' so
i'm i'm not i'm not feeling so
As i walk by faith i know
Step out and shine
Telling everyone that's
Deaf dumb and blind
Jesus is the One and Only
Way Way Way

Love the vocals on this track. Tupperware, huh? Sounds cool! I do kinda wish that the main drum track started earlier though- personal preference tho, I suppose :) Definitely a download!
Godchaser
by Mikey_d.It's been 18 months since I posted or spent any time recording.Your comments are much appreciated.I do not like what I am hearing with this mix, sounds thin and no deep bottom end compared to what I am hearing in iTunes.Frustrating to say the least.Regardless, thanks for taking time out to say a word or two.
Blessings,
michael2
this (especially cool that you used a Tupperware bowl). What a chorus melody, really nice. i'm not christian, but it doesn't matter at all. this one should appeal to everyone. like how you brought the drums in halfway through, and all of the stops are a nice touch.
Godchaser
your kind words M2.The final product needs work,so I guess it's not so final afterall.I think I need to do some serious tweaking and perhaps repost this.Personally I can't stand the final mix and that ugly ending, nonetheless, your positive comments are still much appreciated. It means a lot coming from a person who's musical (whether he realizes it or not)'gifts from God' I admire and respect. It is good to hear that a 'Godchasing' song can cross over to a non believer.
Blessings,
michael2
just to clear things up, i fall more on the not sure what i believe side of the fence. there is a lot of unexplainable things in this universe.
Godchaser
about the unexplainable, having spent most of my life on 'the fence'.Do you really want any of those questions answered?
Blessings,
pablatone
This is very cool. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't this!
I think the ending is fine. I wouldn't change it. I just played it again, good tune Chase. The only thing I would do differently is to mic the acoustic instead of plugging in, but that of course is just a personal preference. Really nice job.
Godchaser
me at ease.I am happy the tune was a surprise to you and do value the feedback and others like yourself taking the time to say a word or two.The acoustic is actually a Martin guitar modeled from a Line6 Variax so it is a direct in with no miking possibilites except through the main monitors on playback and then recycled.I did attempt to mike an old Gibson hollowbody of my late father's but was to thin sounding to retain so I trashed the track and went straight to the Variax. Thanks for stopping in!
Blessings,
Moviz
that this is outstanding. I love that simple beat and that 'different' off beat sort of rhythm. I love your vocals and the whole production of this song... the backward sound effect makes a difference too, Love it, regards M
Godchaser
for giving the song a go and for your kind words.I am glad you enjoyed the song and glad you took the time to comment.Means a lot when folks are so generous with their time and talents here at MJs.
Blessings,

Excellent sounding production. Sounds finished to me (more finished than any thing I've done, but thats not saying much) Hope we don't have to wait so long beyween tunes next time. Regards
Godchaser
Listened to the finished product on other computers since posting the song only to discover it is my new 'family PC' speaker setup that sounds so thin and crappy.I should'a known better coming from a mere PC!My Powerbook is only ever online to upload so...2 side notes.#1 I will be submitting more material in the near future and #2
Don't be selling your productions or abilities so short. There is so much talent here at MJs it is just so awesome when other people whose music I so respect take time out to listen and comment.
Blessings,
psexnyc
This song is so good on so many levels. A very simple start - a little tupperware beat and some vocals..nothing too serious. Then the vocals begin to take off with the harmonies. Then the drums kick in and the harmonies kick in with the emotions. And the song keeps rolling along building up tension along the way until the release point where the solo kicks in and then its over. Simplicity to Complexity all in one song. And the lyrics are worth listening to too.
It's posters like you and songs like this that makes me really enjoy the time I spend surfing around MJ!
Thanks for posting!
Godchaser
I am so glad you got the chance to hear it and that you so enjoyed the tune. You are right that there is a lot of good here at MJs and for me it is just as much the outstanding talents of so many individuals as it is those that take the time to comment as well as thanking those that do.Thank you very much for your humbling words.
Blessings,
Doug Somers
Wonderful production too. Thanks for posting this for us to enjoy.
All the best,

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words. That latest post of yours is also a very fine piece of work. Thanks again!

.. and vocals in particular, but the instruments and writing are also first rate - this is a really good song GC!
If you were after suggestions, the only thing I could think of is to maybe run the final aif through some mastering software to boost the dynamics, but that's hardly necessary to show off your considerable skills in this post.
Excellent stuff!
Neil
Godchaser
by and for your very generous comments.I agree some mastering is in order 'for all my posts',but it will have to wait until I learn to master the few digital toys that are teaching me now.I was a diehard 4 tracker until just last year, so I am in very uncharted territory.Having heard some of the gems you turn out I do seriously appreciate your feedback and respect your opinions.
Blessings,

of yours I have heard-you have an amazing voice.Nice guitar work.I'm not very religious but I like this song!
Godchaser
I don't know that I've heard you either so...........I do what I feel lead to do,but I will be forever a work in progrss.Like you I'm not at all religious either, just researched the facts and low and behold it turns out there is a God and He is smarter than man!I highly recommend Mark Cahill's "One Heartbeat Away".Free for the asking even! Thanks again for those very generous comments.
Blessings,

lol.... tupperware bowl and all! very nice lyrics and love the guitar work...but here's the deal..i very much respect you and they way you gently wear your faith....is a service well done. Great song...great you...Thanks.[ Jack]

Your kind words and taking the time to comment are much appreciated.Glad you liked what you heard and were not put off by the subject matter. That truely means much more to me than all the personal acolades, and if I may be so bold...........even moreso to 'our' Creator!
Blessings,

Great vocal presence and guitar work. Really like this. The lyrics are honestly written and it shows in the performance. Nice job.

I am a passionate singer. My dad was like that. Thanks for stopping by and for your recent song 'November'.Very nice work!
Blessings,
Scott Carmichael
i wasn't convinced the relentless kick was the right choice... until I heard how it drove the song along with the guitar... nice feel on that six string... It really made for an urgency and drive... that kept me in the song... there are as many choices as there are people ... one of the things I love about this place..
but what really captures me is the commitment to the vocal... all out passion...
makes for a great track every time
Godchaser
I appreciate those kindness. Thanks for giving it a go.You,Scott, were my first download after joining MJ's back in 06.Comments from such gifted people as you really are humbling.Choices.That too is what I love about this place, lots of choices.........and I choose life!
(Mark Cahill's "One Heartbeat Away" makes for a great gift!)

ktb
me of something McCartney might have done on one of his early solo albums. Just a great organic vibe that speaks volumes about wear your inspiration comes from. A fine track. Well done
Godchaser
by for a listen and for taking a moment to say a word.Such humbling words too.I've always loved simple song strutures ,none to serious with a strong vocal and lyrics that 'speak'.Don't know if I captured that but that was and is always in mind. Many thanks again for stopping by.
Blessings & Happy Holidays
This is one amazing piece of music; smooth and solid and filled with fire. Your production is much better than you give yourself credit for, and I would put your vocal skills in the top drawer of MJ talent. If this was on the radio, it'd be worth pulling over and listening to - then going on a hunt to find the artist and CD.
I'm not at all put off by those who celebrate their faith with the gifts their given; that's one of the joys of having them. Music is a gift from God, so irregardless of faith why not offer some back in return?
Good to hear from you again!
Godchaser
I don't know quite how to respond to such charitable words.Your comments are always very humbling. It gives me much pause to the point that a 'thank you' just seems so puny by comparison. In all sincerity I thank you and not just for the visits and the positive remarks, but also for sharing your gifts...truely a pleasure.I seriously do feel like I should be paying someone for the privilege of listening to and corresponding with so many kindhearted and gifted people here.
Blessings and Happy Holidays
sir dennis crowther
This is really cool. love the start and the unconventional rhythm. Great voice. Lots of character. A definite hit.
It seems simple even though there is a lot going on. That's clever.
I might have an issue with the ending. I'll think about it!
Wicked stuff.
Chas
Godchaser
Your kind words are much appreciated.I too have issues with the ending. Not quite what I was hearing in my head when I recorded it but didn't want to hold it any longer so.....it is what it is,at least for now. Thanks again for givin' it a go.
Blessings,
rjamadeus
great use of the tupperware !! , killer job on the vocals i must say !! i don't think there is anything i would change about the production. i like the way you kick in the instruments as the song progresses, i was wondering what you used to get such a cool vocal effect ??
anyway great job and message of coarse !
rj
Godchaser
I appreciate the visit and kind words. As the lyrics developed after the music was written, the slow buildup of the song became a picture in my mind of one's journey of faith, growing little by little, more and more as time passes and knowledge increases. As for vocal effects what you hear is my voice doubled off and on and a touch of reverb to thicken it up a bit.God bless and thanks again for dropping by.
Blessings & Happy Holidays,

Nice beat! This is just a cool comp!

How come I didn't listen to this sooner!? Really cool 'off' beat in this. I love the stops and starts too. Your vocals really suit this style. Well done all around.
Godchaser
I am glad you gave it a go and it agreed with you.I hope more folks click on your 'postings stamp' when they see it here, because as I have already stated to you personally-your stuff is very, very good. Many thanks for your support of the song.
Blessings,
MacFerret
I like this. It builds up nicely and the Tupperware opening was good - a lot better than it looks on paper! Your vocals are really strong and you have that rare ability to harmonize with yourself convincingly. Nice sound on the guitar and good separation from the voice in the mix. Had me thinking of Gerry Rafferty at times.
I like the guitar break at the end with that kind of oozing synth sound behind.
Great stuff.
Godchaser
even though the words are of far greater importance to me than the music, especially words about the things of God.I sincerely do appreciate you stopping by and commenting with such generosity. Many thanks.
Blessings and Happy Holidays,

Great track...easy to listen to. Loved the change! Not sure if you've got some backwards in there but it sounds awesome! You sound like the lead singer from Tea Party...loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee your voice!

blush.I am so glad you stopped by and took a moment to comment. And to answer your question, there were no backward tricks used during the recording process.Again thanks for listening in and your very kind words.

We all have so far to go, complicated by the fact that there are days when we think we're almost there, only to find we were going backwards! Love the sentiment expressed in this vocally expressive and appealing tune! God bless you!
Godchaser
I don't know that we've met this side of heaven. Thanks for the listen and for your kind and well chosen words.
Blessings and Happy Holidays,

this is great!!! i thought of los lonely boys and everclear. . kinda a mix, but you definitely have a great style. awesome lyrics and delivery.
im not a religious man myself, but the sheer feeling of this music make me feel good.
keep it up!
Godchaser
to stop by and give one a go.Thank you for those kind words.I too am not at all religious, just took the time to research the Bible and discovered it is what it claims to be.I highly reccomend a book by Mark Cahill entitled,"One Heartbeat Away".It answers a whole host of questions about the topic. Thanks again.
Blessings and Happy Holidays,

this absolutely rocks, i'm serious. i love your devotion as well as very cool use of instruments. i'm definitely gonna stay tuned to you. rock on-
Godchaser
and commenting.Your very kind words are humbling to say the least.I too will be checking you out one of these days. Thanks again.
Blessings and Happy Holidays,
Daniel: This is excellent. Rock of Ages!
"When i'm itchin' to sin like a dog with a flea
Lord i give it to You only You can set me free"
I like that writing.
And you sing with extreme precision and pathos.
Not to mention the righteous guitar work.
Godchaser
for such kind words. The glory is His and I am just trying to be faithful with the few gifts He has given me.Coming from someone with the experience and length of days here at MJs,the profile and numerous amount of collabs and postings, your encouragment and support means a lot.
Blessings,

sounds. Not heard anything quite like this. You have a very powerful voice. Delivered quite nicely here. The ending fits in your unique but well done style.
Godchaser
I am humbled you took a moment of your time to give one of my posts a listen.I very much appreciate the kind comments and also for your compelling contributions.
Blessings,
Aaron David
But I like it! I like the break out harmony on the 1st chorus.... would have liked to see the music (drums/guitar) unleashed after the 1st chorus to see a more solid feel carry through until you go crazy at the end... It builds at the beginning of the 2nd chorus but i'd like to see it sooner.. just a thought :)
Godchaser
The slow build is a picture of ones faith growing slowly until it busts wide open,as expressed when the drums come in at the point when the lyrics anounce that God has and can,"set me free".Thanks again for your comments and for giving it a go.
Blessings,
Thank you so much for sharing this song with us, it really means a lot to me. You really put your heart into the lyrics, and I love the symbolism as well. Thank you for your love and boldness for the Lord.
God Bless,
Lisa

Godchaser
for stopping by and listening in.Glad you liked the post.
Salutations,

This is excellent... You get the Grammy for best use of Tupperware in a Pop song. Very strong groove and really outstanding vocal delivery!
Godchaser
I'd like to thank all the fans ..............I can remember using Tupperware as a kid to make percussive sounds so the process was really old hat.Just like riding a bike! Thanks again.
Production issues aside (if there even really are any), this is a really good song. Well played, beautifully sung, with a relaxed, confident vibe and some cleverness to keep it all from being too 'expected'. I think I may go on a crusade to ban the use of the word 'quirky', though. It's usually invoked when a song dares to step (even slightly) outside the rigid, expected mold of 'pop song' that's been forming in the shared consciousness. I'm of the opinion that that mold is formed out of countless past 'quirks' anyway, so to conform to it is stupid and sterile.
But I do go on.
Great stuff!
Godchaser
Thanks for the kind comments and your commentary on 'quirkiness' and the use or overuse of said word.I suppose my discription could be rewrote to read:)a short, peculiar Jesus following musical arrangement,but.................hey I kinda' like that!
Blessings,
dajama
Great vocals, and nice guitar tone. Kind of reminds me of the Beta Band somehow. Would have liked to hear more of the guitar at the end, perhaps. Sorry it took me so long to get to this one! Nice work. Peace.
Godchaser
and does get in the way.So glad you visited and took the time to comment.Means a lot when people here at MJs go outta' the way and give of their time and talent. Thanks for the kind words David.
bonnieprincejohnny
I have never experienced such virtuosity displayed on the large size Tupperware bowl... seriously chief - this song is the genuine article (whatever that means) ...love your voice...it kinda puts me in mind of Carl Wilson. Download and tens. You're cooking Godchaser. Aw the best.
Godchaser
with words BPJ.I am humbled that you approved so enthusiastically and not just on one post but two in the same day.God bless and much thanks for taking the time to say such nice things.Appreciate you taking the time friend.

glad I dropped by - the structural shifts and the halting rhythm along with your fine vocal make this a good earful of fine music for this Saturday night. Thanks.
Godchaser
I had just finished listening to a few of your tunes on your homepage and low and behold you commented on one of my posts soon after. Are you staking me?Just kidding.Seriously thanks for your kind words and sharing your time and talents.

man, this is SO good. i know i commented already, but this song is worth another. I love everything about this.
Godchaser
to say the least. After listening to all your posts thus far I thought for sure you would have gravitated towards my post "Candices' Denial" given it's particular style, but I'm not complaining a bit.I am happy that this speaks to you enough to comment a second time. And again I thank you my friend. You are too kind.
Really like this song a lot, excellent from beginning to the end....
Godchaser
I am gald you ventured over my way for a listen.I too am glad to have stumbled upon your most recent post. And in case I have not said it already....welcome to MJs.I look forward to more from you.

Man, The vocals sound so clean and crisp. that is the part of garageband I do not know much about. awesome sound and content
Godchaser
I appreciate you stopping by and commenting. There's no denying a good studio mic and a good interface with quality mic preamps makes a big difference when doing vocal work. Many thanks for your kind words.

Godchaser
Humbled that you stopped by to listen to one of my posts and so glad that it agreed with you.Thank you for your brief though positive remarks.
God bless,
Vocals are great! Drums are cool. You sound a bit like a young Ric Ocasek from The Cars! Very creative...
Godchaser
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.Greatly appreciate the kind remarks.Ric Ocasek, now that's a first.
Shire Knights
But this doesn't suck. I like the start stop sound of the guitars. It's well done. You've got something to say but you care about the music as much as the lyric. Not easy to pull off..Keep it WEIRD. It might open up more people to your message.
What if Insane Clown Posse or marilyn manson started preaching the good word? That would be aweome.
Godchaser
As far as ICP or Mr.Manson coming to know the Lord,it's not out of the realm of possibility because with God ALL THINGS are possible! In the spirit of keeping it 'WEIRD' I would suggest the for mentioned person-alities visit DeathBeth.com to get some perspective. Thanks again for stopping by and being honset.

on a recent song of someone else's. so i clicked and looked at your stuff. this really resonates with me especially right now. i'm a Christian but i'm working through some major doubts in my life. again, fantastic work. i'd like to be able to write lyrics like that but i think i'll have to settle my doubts first. thanks for posting man.

There's no doubt 'doubt' can derail a believer's walk rather quickly.Been there a time or two myself. The mind.....is a terrible thing! If there is anything I can do to encourage, guide or direct you,to a source for info about a particular subject, etc.,please feel at ease to ask.You are welcome to email me privately if need be.Thanks again for your encouraging words.

I love the arrangements. The production is flawless.
This track creeps and crawls all over you and grows with every second. The vocals are very smart and add greatly to the feeling of the song.
Great sound!
Godchaser
Thank you very much for your generous words.Welcome to MJs and I hope you recieve a warm welcome here.I too like your style, have enjoyed your posts and hope to hear more from you in the future.

I really like this song, the arrangement, the instrument tracks, the vocals, the mood, and the message, whether the message fits me literally or figuratively. This song is very, very well done, and you appear to be a talented man. This is not surprising, having read your bio. What a story...
I've read some of your comments about your production. My thought is your production chops will continue to improve, but behind them is a talented songwriter and musician. So, you can't go wrong.
Godchaser
You are very kind to stop in and leave such humbling comments.I'm really not all that talented, moreso a great pretender.I work with what little I got and that works for me.Thanks for the words of encouragement and the time spent listening in.Very much appreciated.
Blessings,
8piscean8
The vocals are spectacular. Great guitar sound. My only nitpick is to maybe let up on the relentless kick. Since the kick is going through almost the whole song stopping it here and there or changing the rhythm just slightly might do the trick. Great production. I might be humming this for a while!
Godchaser
Your very kind to stop by and comment.Good to have you back and with such a strong post in tow.Hope to hear more in the near future.

Daniel, this is great! the vocals are top notch (reminds me of FFH). I love your singing. I think I need to listen later through the headphones, but this has the making of a hit. Needs something to round it out I think.
Semper Fi Bro,
Stephen
Godchaser
Funny you mention FFH.They were my first 'Christian' concert.Never really got into them but they do write some fine tunes.I agree the piece could use some rounding out,but as with all my posts they're never done, because I am always plotting changes in my head.So it is what it is, for now anyway.Very thankful for your taking the time to comment.

Just knowing the music was pleasing to your ears and the subject matter was pleasing to your soul is of far greater value to me than any 'technical' comments you could make.I sincerely appreciate the kind words.

... and to think you added the music as mere garnishment for the words... God amazes me through you... a mighty fine piece of work here... keep doing it!
Godchaser
God does get all the credit.Glad you stopped by for a listen my friend and even more surprised that this was pleasin' to your ears, musically speaking.I know you love the Lord so lyrically no problems but....I digress!Hope you know it means a lot coming from you.Thanks.
Blessings,

I'm getting a great buzz off this, as if the late, great Harry Nillson were in a jam session with Dave Mason (what ever happened to hi,?!). The Harry reference is about as high a compliment I can give a vocalist - nice, subtle additional vox tracks. The dynamics are killer. Looks like you found your way through this one!
Godchaser
Hope MJs makes you feel right at home.Loved your bio and will be listening in in due time.I am humbled to say the least with your very generous comments about this post.I am glad the subject matter and the delivery has been striking a chord with some folks here. Thanks again Bob!

heartbeat in combination with the acoustic is such a great driving rhythm. Your vocals and harmonies are top of the mountain, my friend.

So nice you stopped in for a visit and to leave such wonderful comments to boot. Many a tune being posted here these days so it means a lot to me when someone goes out of their way to listen in and respond.Much appreciated.

Thumps on a plastic bowl can sound like a heartbeat.
Melodic words coming from the heart sound like joy.
I liked it very much.
Thank you.

Anything that magnifies joy is bargain at any price. :)
What a fine bit of tuneage Daniel. Tupperware? You rule man!
Nice, crisp and tight rhythm guitar work. Sung really well too. Nice job on the vocal harmonies!
Love it!
God bless you brother!
Godchaser
To God be the glory and so nice to run into another that would agree whole heartedly.Whatever I have to offer is only because He supplied!Amen
Daniel
Hey man, great tune. Sounding well. As with everyone else vocals really strong. Always thought there was more to tupperware than storage! You lay down the drums yourself? Alaways want the beat man. Hopefully you'll be recording again soon (no pressure). Be well.
Godchaser
Appreciate the visit and the kind words.Drums are created from finger tapping on a drum machine's pads.Thats why they're always so simplistic.Would like to invest in a drum software program but cannot decide what to go with.Any suggestions?Again thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Blessings,
yeah, problem for me that. Unfortunately I is skint like a fish, so can't afford any decent software at moment. And there doesn't seem to be any decent freeware so personally I'm stuck with loops. Which is ok but not ideal. Think you've got a pretty good sound coming out of that drum thingie anyway. Might save for one of them. Sorry couldn't be any better help.
It sounds very beautiful !
I really enjoyed the listen, great vocals, lyrics and music.
Peace Dee.

I'm not sure what to think given you have already once praised the tune months ago.Regardless, I appreciate the support and kind words you always freely give to my posts.Perhaps it is time for a new piece!

Everything on this sounds great, from the guitars to the vocals to the backing vocals...and the tupperware bowl.
Excellent mix and layout.

Being an older guy, in this piece I kind of hear a touch of Marc Bolan of T-Rex. Very nice; may you continue to "step out and shine".
And thank you for the kind comment re. Mon Cheri. 8^)
