Knock it off! &mdash 11/26/07 - 10:28:11 PM
Hey! You just made me remember that I can actually run Gleetchlab now that I have a better computer. Thanks, Michael.

Okay, we need to talk. Some of us, when we had new babies, were unable to function normally and walked around like zombies all the time and lived on jellybeans and spoke in grunts and most certainly did NOT put out a steady parade of fascinating and well-realized songs. You, on the other hand, seem to have the use of many more brain cells than I did in the time after my daughter was born, if the stuff you're managing to put out is any evidence. So, just don't tell my husband, okay, or he'll think I was milking it.

This is a really beautiful, eerie piece. I love it that you've kept it very stripped down and that the skeleton seems to be that distant, simple piano melody with the GleetchLab sounds floating around it. They are absolutely hypnotic. This would make a lovely soundtrack for a documentary on phosphorescent sea creatures.

I just listened to this four times in a row and it's just really something that gets better with more listening. I just though you'd like to know I'm REALLY enjoying it.

I checked out Gleetchlab the other night - &mdash 11/27/07 - 06:36:34 AM
but it didn't load at the time. Maybe that's good - I needed some sleep. This is so cool - I can't wait to get it running. I especially like the addition of the lonesome piano. What's Crystal? Or shouldn't I ask?

crystal &mdash 11/27/07 - 09:54:49 AM
is a soft synth. a really cool one. analogue, FM and semi-modular. you can do anything with it. If you're good at programming, it's got infinite possibilities, if not it still has infinite possibilities: there are millions of patches for this thing on the internet. plus it's FREE (one of my top requirements)

Another good mix.... &mdash 11/27/07 - 12:21:32 PM
This is another good mix from Gleetchlab. The evolved/evolving sounds are more 'organic' in this mix.

I was reading the 'manual' this morning and it's quite unique in what the program does and the mixture of elements that the Italian gentleman brings together.

My appetite is whetted.

Take care.

organic &mdash 11/27/07 - 01:47:45 PM
is right. on the last song i played with the speed and the time stretch a lot. this time i had one untouched file playing while i used the processor, cosmo and the granular synthesis function on a second copy of the file. i'm getting pretty strung out on the thing, a lot of fun to play with.thanks for listening.

Cool &mdash 11/27/07 - 02:21:28 PM
I love the surging panning effects - beautiful work. Thanks for posting the URL for GleetchLab, I am sold.

glad you like &mdash 11/27/07 - 02:45:02 PM
i had my fun, a lot of the panning is the synth (crystal), but much of what you hear is gleetchlab. but the guy gives it away, so you're actually not sold, you're "freed"

enough crappy puns for today.

you are really getting good at this device. kept it subtle and dreamy.
Thanks for the link to it. I haven't had the chance to play with it, but read the manual so far. so that's a start.

reminds of primorial soup and the beginning of life. Is that to Carl Segan?

i think &mdash 11/27/07 - 11:34:48 PM
that we may need to have a gleetchlab battle. one of us does a gleetchlab track, which is then run through again by someone else, and then someone else, and so on and so on. i wonder just how unrecognizable it would get eventually. maybe i'll do it to one of your tracks.

Very nice &mdash 11/28/07 - 05:47:43 AM
soft and relaxing. Incredibly subtle. Brian Eno would love this track, I know I do. Lovely esp the soft piano in the backround that comes in every so often. Cool.

Granular synthesis &mdash 11/29/07 - 05:03:54 AM
I'll have a bowl of granular synthesis please and could you make it semi modular. Very ambient tune, it certainly soothed my brain on a sunny cold Thursday morning.
