Description:
This song is a love story in the flower shop.
I conceived and Tadashi Togawa wrote lyrics.

The United States, Britain, Australia, and Canada, etc.
For you in every country in the world.
I wanted to sing in English.

Tadashi Togawa requested the English translation to
Ejh(Mr.Ed Hannifin) of the
United States.

Ejh corresponded very kindly.
And, lyrics were analyzed very exactly.
Thus, Japanese was translated into English.

This lyrics are the expressions of a large goodness of
one's heart of Ejh.

We wish to express our gratitude for Mr.Ed.
Thank you very much.
Friendship exceeded the Pacific Ocean.

We three are expecting the thing that the mind of lyrics
reaches you.
We pray that this lyrics sound in your mind.

Thank you very much.
Ed, we wish to express our gratitude deeply for your
friendship.

Lyrics:
Orchids

Today he is going to buy flowers for the woman he loves.
Today he is going to buy orchids for this beautiful woman,
because today is an important day.
His breath is white in the cold air.

There are small flower shops in the town.
One day there was a pretty flower in the storefront.
It caught the eye of a passer-by.

And on another day,
Tempted by the sweet perfume of flowers ,
He entered the shop.

A woman was the shopkeeper.

She was as beautiful as a flower.
She was as fresh as a leaf.
He fell in love at first sight.

And so, rose and lily,
Transvaal daisy and begonia,
He began to many kinds of flowers,
which all had the same perfume to him.

He bought all kinds of flowers,
but he did not really want the flowers.
He wanted her look, her glance.

She always smiled on the other side of the flowers.

Today is an important day.
Finally, today, he will say 'I love you'.

He stands in front of the shop.
He looks for her in the window.
She is there.
He gathers his courage and enters the shop.

As he enters, the shop telephone rings.
She answers it, and her face glows.
He overhears a conversation that seems to be a happy one.
He realizes everything.

Today he buys orchids.
Today he buys the most expensive, beautiful orchids in the
shop.
She smiles happily.
He also smiles, gently.

He keeps the orchids in his room.
He cares for them every day.
Her smile floats in the orchid blossoms.
He no longer goes to the flower shop.

Now for a real comment... &mdash 11/27/07 - 08:44:39 AM
First of all, thank you for your kind words regarding my small contribution... I apologize for the typo that I have contributed...

I read the lyrics back in the summer, and had no idea what the final song would sound like. I have to say that I love the music...The melody is very sweet, and strikes my ears as both simple and sophisticated.

The feeling of the song is sad, and yet there are elements of joy in it. The sadness is the sadness of life, deep and beautiful. I love how you tell the story.

The playing is sensitive and appropriate to the song. Tadashi's work is once again tasteful, with great feel...

In short, I just love it. I look forward to listening to it again and again...

Yes, I like too.
This photograph was taken by Tadashi-san.
To tell the truth, I presented Tadashi-san this spoon (and the mug).

Nice imagery &mdash 11/27/07 - 09:10:19 AM
Words and Music tell a beautiful story. The mood creation in this is wonderful piece is enhanced by a jazzy style I have not heard for awhile. Reminiscent of Flora Purim's type of projects.

The vocals are as soft as the petals of those orchids enhanced by the guitar weavings throughout.

This was a treat for the ears.

So sweet and so sad. I can identify with the man.

One of the most original songs. The melodies are not at all "standard western". Very different and very uplifting.

I am saving this .. no I don't .. I see there is no download button ..

I am saving this in my heart ..

Beautiful &mdash 11/27/07 - 02:10:09 PM
Chord selection and lyrics set the song up really well. Lovely bass, and the guitar and keys are just right. It's only a small thing, but I think it would be great to hear your beautiful voice on a cleaner microphone. Musically, everything is recorded really well, but the hum on the mic lets the vocals down a little.
I really enjoyed this one - your collabs are always a joy to listen to.
Greetings from Australia!
Thank you,
Neil

Shy and sad &mdash 11/28/07 - 09:22:32 AM
The vocalist has a lovely, youthful, innocent style that is oh so comfortable and smooth and honest. I enjoyed listening to her throughout. There were many times her emphasis on certain English syllables and phrasings was unnatural, however.

The guitar playing is superb, as is the bass. The intro synth wasn't necessary; but I liked the electric piano a lot. Consider replacing all synth string patches with elec piano. And cutting the entire synth into.

Compositionally, the music is classic and lush, I love it. The track itself seems perhaps too long, rambling. Yet the only stanza I'd cut has great changes in it and I'd hate to loose it. I think the storyline can be tightened, tho. And perhaps enhanced diction and emotional emphasis in the vocal line might help carry the story, keep it compelling. Cuz, even tho the music floats and is great throughout, the story ending, the shy and sad nature of the touching loneliness, is kind of lost in the length.

Wonderful track. I loved it. A fabulous collaboration!

The lovely, delicate vocal makes this tale of unrequited love deliciously bittersweet.

Very tasty guitar work gives the tune a very nice texture. ;)

I loved the sad story, too! Unrequited love, alas!

Your voice is beautiful, and your combined instrumental is a perfect backdrop. Congratulations on a beautiful song.
