Description:
a song for the Lost Songs Project. the idea is to create a "lost song" from an unnamed album (until all entries are in), and everyone is to guess what artist and album you created the song for. well, this is our submission. some may get the artist, but i bet you'll have the same problem i did with the album. think hard, think long and hard...you'll get it. lost song..........somebody save me.
hope everyone enjoys!

The vocal certainly reminds me of Tom Waits, but I don't recall any productions like this...Except possibly "Alice" Great tune, any how.
jgurner
...but it sounds kind of like Tom Waits meets The Cure, which is really a cool idea if you think about it.

ageofthedeathtree
we appreciate everyone coming by and giving this a listen! close guesses too, but i suppose the song isnt really that big of a riddle. i will say that this lost track is off of an "odd" album...and may contain more than one band/artist working together. love the tom waits/cure combination!
sincerely,
age
p.s. everyones submissions have been great, nice work everyone!
stevel
my first thoughts are a mixture of Captain beefheart, Frank Black, Husker Du and Tom Waits. Intriguing....nice guitar work!
Steve
Doug Somers
but neither are correct on their own. Great tune though - really well put together.
Thanks!
Doug
bud
but I really like the song. Can't decide if the answer is in the vocals, lyrics or music - all great BTW. I'll need to give it a few more listens.
michael2
i am totally lost. the vocals remind me of Mark Lanegan. This could be the Screaming Trees. Am I right? The Sweet Oblivion album? This is killing me. Great track.
Vox reminds me of Tom Waits. Music doesn't sound familiar to me at all. An excellent recording though bro!
Be well!

cool song, but I'm a bit stumped. I hear something familiar but can't quite get it out.
Tom Waits initially.....but, I don't know of any Tom Waits that sounds like this musically
Maybe michael2's comments and stevel's are somewhere in the ball park?
I cant wait to find out
Great song anyway

SmokeyVW
except i know that i like it.
thanks
Peter Bauckham
really good - but I really can't place it - I not really familiar with Tom Waits music - but the vocals do have his kind of sound...

would not have clue with the album, but my wife says Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, Joe Cocker. But probably goes with Tom Waits.
I love the guitar work on this track, its really nice. Well sung I can tell you are trying to sound like the artist.
Good track thats been very well done.
davisamerica
tom waits...album: Frank's Wild Years???
peacepiano
Hey isn't this by Ageofthedeathtree? I really like the rockin' blues sound and the deep throaty vocals. No clue who else could have done it.
Thanks

actually it's sons of hypnos...i need to change my screen name from my lil solo project (dont know how to, or even if i can). but sorry, this song isnt either of those..........wink wink nod nod. this is from an artist who started recording in the early 70's (so yah, a lot of you guys ARE correct). he's working alongside someone else here, and the song was "lost"...sadly!
sincerley,
age

...but if it isn't Tom Waites, then I have to go back to my chair and think some more. Think think think...
The singing is excellent, and the song has such a sweet and sharp feel - this would be a winner entirely on its own.
Van Morrison.................................?
ageofthedeathtree
didnt say it wasnt old tommy boy. in fact, didnt say that at all...hhhmmmm. the album might be harder to pick out though!

I mean, who else sings like that?? I don't know Mr. Waits' oeuvre well enough to guess an album tho. I've been listening recently to Rain Dogs, which is all much janglier than this. Anyway, cool tune.
Heightened
Tom Waits.
Rebsie
Great growly vocal impersonation! I couldn't name the album though.
Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
Bob6stringer
Yeah yeah yeah! Love it. Waits comments or not - all gruff voxes get that - it's all original. Love the guitar work and the great keyboard wash (and later cascades) holding it together. Wish I had a real drummer. Signed, --Jealous.
ageofthedeathtree
that's actually not a real drummer...i programmed the beats with a boss dr. rhythm drum machine. was one of the earlier beats i tried programming. i then tweaked the drum track A LOT with my equalizer. took time....would have been much easier if i did have a real drummer!
