Description:
This finale song was to have mirrored the intro piece using a variant of its patterns but also referencing the band's history with a stylistic nod to earlier work. Initially was to have wound up this particular album but never got past the demo stage...... probably because the band didn't keep their eye on the ball. Know the album?

Hmmm ... &mdash 12/01/07 - 03:30:03 AM
It's nice ... but I've no idea what it is!
Has a kind of 70s big production feel to it, but that's as far as I've got. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Rebsie! &mdash 12/01/07 - 03:46:11 PM
This band - if band is the proper word to use - was indeed put together in the 70s (5 points there!) and carried on into the 80s as well. They often used a rather grand orchestral style in some of their pieces.
Glad you liked it, and you get a 5 point bonus for being the first to comment!! :o)
Cheers,

Wow! &mdash 12/01/07 - 03:30:56 AM
Has an 80's sound to my ears. Unfortunately, that's the era I'm most unfamiliar with as I skipped most of it. So, of course, I haven't a clue as to the album...
But this is really nice...big and majestic!
Be well friend! [ Reply to This ]
The 80s kind of slid by &mdash 12/01/07 - 03:51:21 PM
for me as well. These musicians did release new albums into the 80s, so like Rebsie, you collect points too!
Thanks for your comments - like that majestic adjective!
Keep well,

tricky one &mdash 12/01/07 - 04:22:13 AM
Its not something by Tangerine Dream or Mike Oldfield? Like the orchestral feel of it? [ Reply to This ]
No, but I have to admit that when I listened to the guitar &mdash 12/01/07 - 04:01:29 PM
in the last repeat, the sound is very much like Oldfield. I can get the TD references too. Close, but no cigar my friend. Thanks for the comments!

Not the Moody Blues, but they are &mdash 12/01/07 - 04:36:04 PM
a group I like a lot. Thanks for your kind comments Daniel.

Actually reminds me of &mdash 12/01/07 - 12:38:55 PM
The opening of the Floyd's Atom Heart Mother in a way - minus the orchestra. But I have a feeling I'm way off base. [ Reply to This ]
That's a Pink Floyd album I don't know &mdash 12/01/07 - 04:46:28 PM
But, take consolation that you're right - you are off base. :o)
Thanks for stopping by!
Best,

Although not too far off in a way..... &mdash 12/07/07 - 12:48:13 AM
There is a connection, so you are producing some warmth in your guess.

Parsons produced Floyd &mdash 12/08/07 - 12:07:49 AM
Or at least some of their work like Dark Side of the Moon. So the influence is there. Good call.

yeah... &mdash 12/01/07 - 05:16:18 PM
Now here is one that I might know! (oooh...it's a miracle!)
I have to agree with SmokeyVW and The Alan Parsons Project.
I had a roommate in college who introduced me to their music...though she only had a couple of their albums.
I'm guessing this one is from I Robot, if it is Alan Parsons.
'Whoever' it is...I like it! :D [ Reply to This ]
Soooooooo close &mdash 12/09/07 - 01:34:04 AM
thank you smokey &mdash 12/01/07 - 05:21:47 PM

I have to admit &mdash 12/01/07 - 05:47:12 PM
that I was veering towards Steve's suggestion of Tangerine Dream. But I sense a move towards Alan Parson's Project. That would make sense too. It might also explain why some people are mentioning Pink Floyd given the Alan Parsons connection. [ Reply to This ]
All true &mdash 12/09/07 - 02:00:10 AM
Tangerine Dream is another great group but your AP leanings are on the mark.
Thanks for coming by!
Doug [ Reply to This ]
I still trying &mdash 12/01/07 - 07:20:54 PM
to guess - It does remind me of The Alan Parsons Project's ealier stuff - perhaps 'I Robot' - But your notes make me think 'Eye in the Sky' which was a little later I think...

Nailed it! &mdash 12/09/07 - 02:03:00 AM
I think I have &mdash 12/01/07 - 09:35:33 PM
to go along with Alan Parsons Project as well. Which album? boy i can't remember, it's been so long.
terrific piece [ Reply to This ]
Yes, it has been a long time &mdash 12/11/07 - 10:37:00 AM
since this music was kicking around. Your guess nailed the group in one go, so the memory can't be too foggy. :o)
Glad you liked this piece!

Alan Parsons! &mdash 12/01/07 - 11:33:31 PM
I'd bet a dozen Tim Horton's butter tarts it's Alan Parsons! Sounds like Sirius, but there's a real touch of Pyramid here too - one of my fav albums. Is it from Eye In The Sky?
Excellent piece of music, Doug. I can almost hear Chris Rainbow singing vocals over this.
Okay, Al Parsons, Eye In The Sky. That's my final guess. [ Reply to This ]
I'll see your dozen and raise you a box of Timbits &mdash 12/07/07 - 12:44:24 AM
Time. flowing like a river, will soon tell.

You have surpassed yourself with this track, its brilliant. I would have to say that this is your best compostion and production track that you have submitted so far. Very well done Doug, I'm impressed. [ Reply to This ]
King Crimson is a very cool band &mdash 12/07/07 - 12:50:27 AM
but this is not of their making. Thanks for such a positive review!!

Gotta mention &mdash 12/07/07 - 01:16:07 AM
that I love your burning question icon. Very cool.

Cool track, Doug. &mdash 12/16/07 - 05:05:27 PM
Cool track, Doug. Must have been fun to plan out and record. It has a definite rock-opera feel to it. Maybe 'cinematic' would be a better word. [ Reply to This ]
Hi John &mdash 12/22/07 - 10:35:34 PM
Sorry for the late reply - busy times around the holidays. Glad you liked this one. It didn't take too much planning for this since the early Alan Parsons music was fairly well burned into my grey matter during university. It was just a matter of sitting down and letting the music out. I'm working with my son Mike on a remix which is nearly done, but it has been a little slow going due to Christmas preparations for me and end of term papers for him.
BTW, I'll be getting Ivory for Christmas and am really looking forward to trying it out.
Hope all is well with you, and thanks again for stopping by and leaving your kind remarks.
All the best, and Merry Christmas!
