Description:
I made this track on GB and in the process of doing my best attempts at properly mixing it (and giving up hope on it) my edition of Logic Express came in. So this is kinda like my first experience with LE though I don't think it really counts.

Anyway about the song: This is a track that took me a few days to make, but I could never complete it. It has been at least 2 weeks of opening, playing and then opening another song before I finally decided to go with what I have. There are a few lyrics here with some cuts and beats made by myself. I even do a little beat juggling.

Lyrics:
I am a man at odds between these demons and gods
In a nations of fads, false smiles and facades

Every moment that I live is a change to make changes
Opening the book of life and re-writing these pages

Dedicated my life to this quest of peace
And will continue this endeavor till I rest in peace

Triumphant or defeated I will still survive
Until the day that the souls and the heavens collide

Hardware:
The usual

Software:
The usual (with the addition of LE 7)

awesome &mdash 12/02/07 - 05:56:49 PM
The beat was kinda chaotic and seemed a little distorted, but I began to like the feel of it and went with it. Thanks for the comment and the listen. It is always welcome.

Good melody. &mdash 12/02/07 - 05:19:02 PM
Nice cut up melodies but the rapping (notice the double P previous poster - otherwise your involved in something that's on the wrong site - for sure)
was not to our taste - we like 2pac. Good effort though.

bass &mdash 12/02/07 - 08:22:33 PM
I love the vibration of a strong bassline. I think it may be a bit much, but Im going to stick with it since I love thump so much. Thanks for stopping by to comment my friend.

Great mix &mdash 12/02/07 - 05:34:59 PM
of tracks here, giving a nice 'Surreal' feel in parts, great rapping too, which makes it possible to discern the words with that wonderful clarity you have, cheers M

clarity &mdash 12/02/07 - 08:29:02 PM
I guess the lyrics were something that was last minute. I want even sure I wanted to place them there, but I also didn't want to put too many cuts in the jam either. I figured if I did place lyrics in it I had to do it in a chorus type manner to not overburden the song with lyrics.

Glad you enjoyed.

Ok &mdash 12/02/07 - 06:05:47 PM
This is Ninja Tune style, a breakbeats galore fest. Some mad scratching too (you did that?). I digged the flow of the tune. I really liked the middle part. Only two points of critique, 1 the bass-line of the intro is out of tune with the lead synth (bass-line continues for a while afterwards and all is ok then). Two, my main critique is that you mixed your acapella too late and way too soft man, it is kinda missing the highs too. I digged the middle, where the bass-line descends and ascends and slows down. Mad cowbell too;-)). Kicks ass beats. I am being more honest since I regard your rapping skills as top-notch, and I think you can handle my well-meant comment!? I hope, otherwise I'll shut up in the future;-).
Ciao, Marc

Love it!! &mdash 12/02/07 - 08:19:15 PM
Please continue to give good feedback sir. I am trying to get good on the production side, which is why I post music here on macjams. My biggest flaw in all of it is my ability to tame the levels to the point where they are loud enough, but clear as well. Also my headphones tell me one thing while my listen in my car tell me something else. Perhaps I will invest in some mastering software (ozone or something) and try to work it from there.

Thank you for the insight.

"Bravo" &mdash 12/03/07 - 01:23:48 AM
you are really developing as a artist and a human, your feelings always brings hope to my heart knowing there are special humans like you in our world who will bring about change, I can hear a fuller sound, the mix sounds excellent and the breaks between the samples and beats are first class...I still have hope of working with you, just been extremely busy with developing my new art gallery/studio/recording space and traveling, now am back in SoCal for awile.....thanks 4 the jam.....BlueSky

sound clips &mdash 12/03/07 - 08:49:32 AM
At times it seems as if you just throw a different sound clip in there from time to time. Its a great idea. This is for sure an other song. Im liking it.
Just may need a bit of mastering. Thats it. Just to balance the levels.

Mastering &mdash 12/03/07 - 09:09:39 AM
My only weakness. It was definately a lot more spontanious than I would have liked, but I think it came out pretty well. It definately has a lot of potential.

slam &mdash 12/03/07 - 09:27:41 AM
let the boys be boys!!!! killer groove....lethal beats....good layers and clean mix.....maybe a little to much in way of highs on the main snare but that could just be my speakers....I really enjoyed this and thought all the parts were well placed....nice work....peace

Thank you... &mdash 12/03/07 - 01:46:23 PM
There is definately a hardness to the groove I made. Maybe a hint of chaos mixed with some vibrating bass.

wow, you really carve some cool segments together. A smorgasborg sp?
of sonic goodies. Everything works, nice mix

true sir &mdash 12/06/07 - 10:02:23 AM
It started as something else (lyrical song) and ended up as what you see here. The lyrics you hear are apart of a chorus of another song which is now in the works and wont have this segment on it (I think I just confused myself).

Thank you for the kind words sir.

Whoa! &mdash 12/07/07 - 01:59:05 PM
Rap goes cozmik? What a concept!

I really like the lyrics. Production is pretty good. As you get a handle on LE you'll be surprized what you can do.

Very nice offering man.

Be well!

Thanks &mdash 12/10/07 - 04:08:24 AM
I hope to get better with it. Im forcing myself to work with LE only and not GB. Its tuff so far, but in the future you can expect more. Thank you for you comment.

I love this .. &mdash 12/10/07 - 05:21:07 PM

.. brilliant! Lots of cross-over appeal, melting pot is really cooked to perfection. I agree it could just do with a bit of mastering... I most love the blend of the sinister-ish synths/bad ass groove with that gentle "the masqerade is over" - that's just genius and works so well. The scratching is also awesome Mitchell.

melting pot &mdash 12/11/07 - 03:25:58 AM
My mixing is definitely in need of improvement. Its been a while since I've made a jam with a focus on the cuts so hopefully Ill get better with it (mixing and cuts) while I continue to make the music I love.

Thanks for stopping by.

Very Cool..... &mdash 03/14/08 - 01:19:59 PM
A lot of dynamic changes, that lead the listener in many different
directions but the grove keeps you wanting the 1 to bounce on.
I guess thats the heart of the technique knowing and where the
one is.
I can hear you artistic power and that you have...
Over all....

I............LIKE IT............

dynamic &mdash 03/14/08 - 03:55:40 PM
Yes. I started with one thing and ended up with something a little more different. When I do make a song with little or no lyrics I like the beat to change up (and plug in a lot of sound layers). I think Im getting a little better at it. Thanks for the listen.
